Pigskin is a specific available option from G&G, most of their shoes are from Calf leathers.

I quite like pigskin for casual shoes. These are a great example (from Cleverley):

I liked the way it looked, that's why I had a pair. But it was the way they were wearing & the stiffness of the leather - it wasn't for me and honestly can't understand the benefits it confers over other leather options.

I think it really is more for if you enjoy the texture shining through as you polish. Pigskin polishes to a very nice finish, IMO. I'm sorry to hear yours were stiff and wore badly. All of the pigskin I have encountered in my day has been quite soft. Granted, I have only handled a few pairs and none from G&G.
