So this is serious?

I email the boys at Savile Row asking about a 10% Brexit sale, and they're not gonna laugh themselves silly?

I was told by Nick that this sale only applies to In-Store RTW purchases, and that they may do an online sale in a couple of weeks.

Wonder why they don't offer the 10% discount online?

I would guess because of e-commerce fees, rather than direct credit card transaction over the phone or in person.

I'm looking to place my first MTO order with G&G and thought that perhaps some of the veterans here could point me in the right direction.

A couple of years ago I saw a thread regarding these shoes by another maker:

It caught my attention, and I'm looking for something similar for my MTO. I placed an order for a Wells in the CG06 Last in Vintage Cherry and sent them the picture. They sent me back the invoice and Nick added a note to change the color of the shoe to Vintage Cherry (Dark). My questions then are:

1)Would using Vintage cherry(dark) really achieve the look I'm going for, or would it be better to just get the regular vintage cherry and pay for a patina service?(I think G&G can do this if I'm not mistaken?) or just wear the shoes and let the patina evolve by itself?

2)Is Vintage cherry the G&G color most similar to the one in the picture or is there something else?

3)What last do you think would work better for a shoe like this? the CG06 or the DG70, I'm torn between those two.

Vintage cherry looks like the best base to start from. If your budget is tight, asking for a dark vintage cherry would probably do. However, it sounds like only an exact patina match will satisfy. Just pay the extra for a custom patina then, don't even bother with simply a darker burnished cherry. As for the last you need DG70 for sure if you want the kind of tapered round toe pictured. Good luck, and enjoy.

Thanks for your response Jubei. I know it won't come out exactly the same, I just want something similar, so I think I'll go with Vintage Cherry+Patina..

Looking for a little advice after i purchased these thorpes from skoak i noticed a little dust that i just assumed was from the factory the spot in question can be scraped off but not simply rubbed off. The soot is located only on the edges of the sole and not on the uppers, any ideas.

Try using an eraser or sticky tack on it? Even better one of those soft art erasers that you can mold with your hands.

Thinking of taking advantage of the G&G 10% discount, but would like to estimate my total all-in cost including shipping and duties/taxes. Should I expect to get hit with customs charges (duties/taxes) for an order >$800 shipped to the USA? What are your experiences?

USPS usually does not collect customs charges in my experience.  FedEx always does.  UPS usually does.  I forget what the rate is, but $30 or so, including carrier fees, sounds right.

Don't forget all in costs include trees.  Yeah, you can get the basic ones for $20, but I personally can't stand putting "non-fancy" trees in my GGs.  Skoak trees are a good compromise at $100 or whatever they're going for these days.

  Warning: Spoiler! (Click to show)

Agreed.  The implication of "another 10% discount" is that overseas orders are included.  I will email GG about the discount to US and post the reply.
