Gaziano & Girling Appreciation & Shoe Appreciation Thread (including reviews, purchases, pictures, etc...) - Page 1363

@lucci, sincerely, good luck with the sale. I think many of us eventually decide to move shoes and hope to (at least) break even, or close to it. If you find a buyer, that's great and both parties will be happy.

Many I believe are just trying to give a realistic view of the market (and not specifically giving you a hard time). In trust, unless you have Alden whiskey, Ravello, or cigar, resale will incur a loss, even when the shoes are brand new.

I think I can pull a strong demand if I do decide to sell my brown crup EG Derwents.... icon_gu_b_slayer[1].gif

Back to G&G... So anyone have done re-soles with them yet? I'm curious to see the finished products.

Well, since we've been talking how one should price brand new G&G shoes for secondary sale, thought I would chip in with this example(not mine of course);

NIB Gaziano & Girling Grant With Lasted Trees
- 10.5UK
Will Ship To: Anywhere
$825 (USD)

Retail on GG is around $1200, so that's "original" price I would use to benchmark prices when buying shoes in the second hand market. I could care less if someone paid extra to MTO something, especially when the materials or makeup doesn't have an inherent surcharge (exotic leathers, full-spec Deco, etc).

At that point (in my mind), it's their loss if they didn't like the way it turned out for whatever reason. I know I wouldn't want to supplement the seller's MTO fee in the secondhand market.

I understand your perspective Rohit, I was merely providing a breakdown of costs as a guideline for whomever would want to MTO their own. In my personal opinion, I agree that his valuation is high...especially on a niche, aggressive, styling. However, value, like beauty, is in the eye of the beholder. I actually love that look, I think it's so dope it could practically go up your nose...but his and GG's pricepoint just don't sit well with me. On the other hand someone might find value in the fact that it's exactly what they've wanted in their size and available for immediate delivery. There's always a chance!

Not to rain on you my man but I doubt you'll be able to pull what you paid on the resale market...As you're well aware, the reason Alden brown shell holds such a strong value is supply and demand. EG on the other hand can MTO you any styling you'd like and more in cognac, burgundy, navy, or whiskey crup. Ask me how I know. smile.gif

Let the man try to sell his valuable shoes. The market, specifically buyers, will determine their worth.

Ole' Mean Green and I have established a mutually beneficial partnership...but that's not to say that others are limited to their endless palette of MTO options! Let's just say...I got a couple 'somethin-somethin's in the works if you know what I mean...
