GRC1, How tight do you lace up your deco oxfords? Ive noticed that when lacing up all of my oxfords in a tight manner, including a Deco st James ii, it sounds as if air is escaping the shoe when walking. When lacing in a more 'relaxed' manner, the sound isn't evident. However it isn't an issue I have experienced with loafers and derbies in the same size.

Those strands on the deco last are INSANE by the way icon_gu_b_slayer[1].gif

I have a high instep, so I try to lace them as tightly as I can towards the bottom of the lace "ladder" with a bit more "give " towards the top.

That's interesting about the air sound - I had that problem with the first few pairs of decos I had because they were way too big. I sized down, got used to the snugger fit, and haven't had the problem since. Where is the gap between your foot and the shoe wall? Mine tended to be over the toes (shoe was too long, so the unsupported span between where the leather shaped away from my instep and where it met the toe stiffener was too long with a lot of room over the toes - so when I flexed while walking the shoes were like bellows!) and also next to the big toe joint. I would try to work out where there's excess room in your shoes and try to fill it and see if that works.

And thanks for the compliment! cheers.gif
