Gaziano & Girling Appreciation & Shoe Appreciation Thread (including reviews, purchases, pictures, etc...) - Page 1264

@Steven Cash

SkoAB handled everything very well so far. I'll pm you for details.

Looking at your pics, mine look the same really, no difference, including the not perfectly glued lining where the tongue action would rub it loose over time. It being in the same spot, it's pretty clear there is a flaw in the pattern.

You have PM.

In fairness I agree there is not much in it. I had remembered them worse than they were but nevertheless they should be perfect.

When getting a response of Dean, eventhough I was unimpressed/unhappy, I thought that I was probably overly demanding/perfectionist since everyone else had positive experience with him.

(you know what I mean, the first time you paid such amount of money for an item that you used to pay much less , your expectation will be set very high)

Since that accident, I am actually still admiring the design of the shoes/last, but I have less and less confident on the making of the shoes. I decided to only buy when I can try on and feel the shoes .

I guess it is just a common problem when businesses grow and market will adjust accordingly.

Thanks for sharing. Only in doing that can we get a feel of the matter at hand and possibly influence something.
And I'm definitely interested in pics of the misalignment. If on the same boot and side it might indicate a flaw in the pattern, which in turn should be an easy fix going forward.
Mine came from the same source and no flaw in handling my issue by them whatsoever.

Suffice to say will also check the inner finish closely next.

Shame that SkoAB discontinues EG. All my 5 pairs are flawless and just perfect. When looking at StC I have my reservations regards finish and leather quality.

@NewStart
Fully with you, when paying that kind of money, perfection is a must, simply mandatory. It can't be that the outcome is anything but. That's simply my expectation. If a flaw is revealed in due course, fair compensation should be offered, from reasonable discount to full refund. I would think that's common sense and standard everywhere.

PS: Need to add that I have a pair of Ishams, single MTO from earlier in the year, and they are beauties.

That tongue misalignment is annoying. I have a pr of Alden with that conditio. I may try @DWFII cure - thanks for the tip!

I was wondering...is the GG "Deco Range" considered different from the Deco Last? I was looking at the MTO, and while every shoe style can come in the Deco last, it also seems their is a higher-end Deco range with a few select styles? It seems the price is a little higher too?

I'm I right to assume the Deco Range is a higher-end selection of GG MTO shoes and and not just a specific last style?

Yes the real Deco is a different range of shoes, and after this was established the last was available on the standard range. So you get the standard leathers and sole on the elongated Deco shape. Different leathers sole and finishing in the Deco range

My Hayes in vintage rioja are here. TG73 last.

Lovely color. Spectacular last.

Unfortunately there a but of heel slippage.

Also, unfortunately there were some scuffs. I didn't have to go looking for them. I noticed them while putting on my shoes.
There's also this 'ghost brogue' pattern.

A very light embossing. As if they'd decided to brogue that area, then after applying pressure, they changed their minds.

I'll also photos later. I'm out of town.

Also, creasing is almost instantaneous on this pair.
I normally try not you flex my vamp area while walking. Especially while sitting. I'll never rest my feet on my toes & this crease the vamp. It's unkempt.
This creasing is from about 10 minutes of casual walking.

Negative points out of the way.
This shoe is beautifully crafted.
A very luxurious feel to it.
Doesn't feel 'mass produced' like JM Westons (no offense).

Color is breathtaking.

Plus, they did a great job on the glaçage I requested.

Color is great and they just improve with patina. I have a pair of Wigmores that look amazing after all these years. The leather creases don't look too bad really. Part of it may be just due to how your feet fill the last.

I would say the creasing is not bad at all.

My G&G shoes crease after some casual walk after I put them on.

Also the vintage Rioja is fantastic. I need to get one pair in vintage Rioja.
