Feeling inside, the tongue base is attached lower on the "hanging" side than on the other boot. Plus the vamp leather is thinner and slightly bulging at that spot. Hmm...

The worst thing you can do to yourself is to get annoyed everytime you put them on. At the price you paid for them, i think it is very likely to happen.

Not really a big deal, but as someone said before, when you have seen it, it is the only thing you will notice.

Is there no risk that the tongue may tear ? I would try this on some boots if there s no risk of tearing the tongue.

Done correctly...even a little crudely...and in ordinary use, none.

Dammit.  GMTO anyone: Burnham in Vintage Rioja MH71 or TG73?

I would be down for tg73 last

That is two.  I'll cross-post on Skoak's thread.

Made to order Paris has - or at least had - the Burnham TG73 in vintage rioja as part of their collection. Perhaps worth asking them if they have it in stock in your size or could re-order without the MTO surcharge?

Whoops, missed this.  I will contact Denis and see what the price and availability is for the Burnham in VR.

I agree!!

I can't wait to see it! The black and grey is classy but still stands out as an amazing spectator style.

That's what I'm afraid of. Feeling bad whenever I see them for no other reason than knowing there is a flaw. Which is a 70:30 at the moment. Either way, will (need to) make that final call in the next few days.

They are lovely. Congrats.

Did you request the G&G stamp on the inner heel rather than the stylized Deco writing?

I find this particularly interesting.

I ordered my Thorpes direct from Skoaktiebolaget at the back end of this year and the tongue is massively misaligned on the one boot - to the point where yours would give me no concern whatsoever (the other is fine).

If @DeSense you want to see a photo of this to make you feel better about yours I will post later. However, as this is only evident when not being worn I never mentioned this.

The issue that gives me much more cause for concern is the inner facing on the reverse of where the speedhooks was never fastened down sufficiently - it had started to peel back even before wearing. This combined with the fact that the other facings are parred down to provide a nice "ramp" for the tongue to glide over and this one isn't causes the tongue to roll the facing back and cause an unsightly belly.

Here is a picture AFTER being returned to Dean for fixing and two hours wear around the house.

Needless to say I was unimpressed and conveyed my opinions to him. No offer of discount was made (although in fairness they were not bought directly from him) and no reimbursement of postage was offered (until he received my email of complaint) and again requested them back to have another go - which I declined on the basis of if it can't be done right the first or second time I see no reason to think the third time would be any different.

In the interest of fairness it must be mentioned that I did make efforts to rectify this without any intervention from G&G and the "guess" Dean made as to why the adhesive failed was because I had previously tried to fix this back myself. I do not accept this as he said that both surfaces were stripped down prior to sticking and although he said the facing would be "cemented back down" when I emailed him back to complain it became evident it wasn't "cemented" as he said "the closing department (which is where it was sent) do not have access to the stronger adhesives and that if I returned them to him the stronger adhesives (cement) would be used".

In the heat of the moment (this is not the first example of poor workmanship/service I have received from G&G) I said I shall be placing no more orders with G&G which is a shame - I had wanted a BRG Gable and a Cooper Deco (Stingray or Lizard).

No effort to maintain my custom was made so therefore my presence on this thread has been somewhat lessened of late.

I haven't made my thoughts public until now but seeing another customer with a "less than perfect" product from G&G makes me think this is not just me and would help other users.

Keepers or return given the significant cost of these?
