Oh wow, texture on the one on the right (mountain ram i think?) is just fantastic.  I'd keep that one (or even better sell it to me if it's a size 10UK).

I will offer a dissenting opinion, I would keep the the kudu as it is less flashy but that is just me.

For color comparison also posting the pic of G&G Thorpe in Arran Grain with C&J Whiskey Harlech's (also got these today).

I own both of these in the same leathers as pictured. Wore my Thorpes last night. You will not be disappointed with either one. fistbump.gif

prefer the one on the left also.

I was hoping to get some sizing advice for the MH71 last for Thorpe boots. Here are some of the other lasts i'm familiar with my size in:

8.5E in Carmina Oscar

8.5D Trubalance

8.5 Viberg 2030

9 in RL Lindricks

9 in Rider 42 last.

8.5D for barrie felt too snug and uncomfortable for me

Visvim brigadier boots 8.5

I measure a 9 for length and 9.5 arch length on the brannock. I'm between a D/E for width.

My only width option is E. Does an 8.5E sound like a proper fit? Thanks!

Yes my size for the barrie and mh71 are the same

Lol

I think you know why I say this is funny.

I really think a case could be made for either it's just too bad there is such an overlap. In the end it really doesn't matter what we think, it really only matters what you think.

The one on my left (as I look at my monitor), by a considerable margin.

If an 8.5D Barrie is too small, I personally would be hesitant to buy a UK8.5E MH71 Thorpe boot. May need to go to a 9.....

Moutain ram all the way, truly special boots

Kudu is a nice one, cleaner for sure (i know lots of people is getting it) but it is no where as beautiful as mountain ram.

To me kudu is prob more comparable to calf or grain

Good to know I thought I messed up sizing but guess not do you take E or F width for G&G?

If I had the good fortune of being able to pick (never going to happen), the left.  The right feels too busy. Specifically, the course texture of the mountain ram plus the apron stitching seems like too much competition.  The left seems more harmonious with the stitching taking a more prominent role and the leather a more complimentary role.  Or maybe the kudu and the stiching just match better, whatever, you know what I mean.
