I don't think they conform to the actual shape of the boot as well as a pair of semi Lasted pair of shoe trees would. I think with the Skoak trees I notice this mostly on the sides of the boots mostly. Since these are my only pair of G&G shoes or boots on the MH71 I don't have a set of semi Lasted or Lasted G&G trees to confirm this. But my gut tells me from having and using Lasted or semi Lasted trees on other shoes and boots that I would get a better fit with the semi Lasted pair.

What I meant when initially determining whether to purchase or not purchase G&G vs Skoak trees I didn't consider fit of the trees when making my decision on which trees to buy.

Just the one so far, but I probably will try out a few more in the next few years, if my schedule permits to travel to the locations or to at least get to NYC when one visits.

Ironist mentioned some thing about whole cut shoes by this maker I believe name start with Merello etc name may be off I saw how color full his shoes are definitely getting one of them.

Antonio Meccariello is the guy. He used to be the head guy for Kiton and now makes some amazing shoes by hand. He also offers last modifications and his trial shoes are full functioning GYW shoes that are finished well, so you could actually wear them as a normal shoe.

I haven't had the chance to try him yet, but did speak with him a while back to get an idea of what he offers. He also has a thread on SF if you want to check out his work.

No problem at all. That is why we are all here. We help "encourage" each other to step up our game.

5 St. Crispin already? I knew about the GG and EG but only thought you order one St. C so far! Now I'm even impressed. haha

Great choices with EB and Vass as well.

But what dddrees said is very true one fits all. So G&G went same way as EG tree's. But the cost is still the same aka 200$ few stores still have there old specific last lasted shoe tree still available that you can pick up. They come in mahogany color & natural color also. I got lucky & picked them up from leffot biggrin.gif

Even though they are not "semi-lasted" the main parts of the shoe are fitted perfectly. The only difference is in the toe, but don't forget that the toes have a thicker lining to hold the shape on its own. The slightly different toe itself wouldn't cause a problem and still fills up enough to all the toe of the shoe to be held up well.

Well hopefully that won't be the situation in your case.. But in fact that's actually what happened with the Falkirk restock, part of the restock came in and part of them were rejected and had to be re-made two more times.

All of mine (standard and lasted) from Vass and Carmina are not  lacquered. C&J BG/HG are.
