Nope and neither is EG as lasted trees can be a logistical nightmare, well problematic anyway. Evidently they are no longer lacquered either and this was something that was discussed at greater detail not to long ago. However the non lasted trees still will work a lot better to maintain or not distort the shape of the G&G shoe better than any generic shoe tree you can buy. So although its a great disappoint specifically given the cost its still something one might want to consider purchasing especially for more expensive shoes such as G&G.

Is there some debate about the effectiveness of lacquered vs nonlacquered trees? I always understood that unlacquered was preferable due to greater absorption of moisture. But most higher end trees I've seen, including the lasted ones from Vass, are finished over. Can someone illuminate me?

GG trees are semi-lasted now. So they will still be made to fit the last, in your specific size and width (even G width), but with an amalgamated MH71 like toe. I guess keeping the toe the same saves time in production, but you still get a tree that fits very well...

Cost savings maybe achieved in production but I imagine it saves them a lot of time and energy in stocking and and supplying as well.

G&G has semi lasted tree comes in two options one is natural & other is mahogany stained they both do the same thing but I prefer mahogany one look much better buts it's personal preference. But what dddrees said is very true one fits all. So G&G went same way as EG tree's. But the cost is still the same aka 200$ few stores still have there old specific last lasted shoe tree still available that you can pick up. They come in mahogany color & natural color also. I got lucky & picked them up from leffot biggrin.gif

dddrees have you have any experience with skoaktibolg shoes tree for MH71 last? I bought one 9UK just to see how they fit or work as an experiment. Worst case I can use them for other shoes.

Yes, I went with a pair for my Thorpes. The thinking at the time was the wouldn't show in my boots and I never considered fit being that big of an issue. Personally if I had it to do all over I would have went with G&G shoe trees. The Skoak trees may work, but it's not the ideal fit.

Ok got yea I wanted to make sure that's all. I was told they fit the same as G&G tree but only difference is toe box is not lasted as G&G. But now since G&G has also gone non lasted I would assume they are same but this info was given to me from Skob

i think the best term I read today is now G&G shoe trees are semi Lasted. Thus G&G shoe trees even though they aren't Lasted they are still your best bet. Because the G&G shoe trees will conform or fit much better than those trees that are generic or which do not conform as closely to the G&G Lasts.

Huh, do they horribly disfigure your boots? I'm confused. You said you didn't consider fit that big of an issue. I wouldn't think they are that far off.
