You are right I should of said Tg73 worked for me with thin socks good fit and had Simpson on order so figured to ask if it would fit the same.

This certainly sounds promising to say the least.

Yeah I understand your trying to be helpful, and I actually do this with a few boots as well as some shoes already.

Besides the dress socks I wear for the most part are thinner.

But, unfortunately if your foots just too big for the Last a thinner sock won't do the trick.

No matter how much research I do, until I try the Last on in person the first times always a gamble to some degree. Some more than others.

I've been rather lucky so far, and the users here and retailers have helped greatly.

However I always feel better once I receive them and it actually fits.

That is very true, person will be scrooed if they have too big of a foot. But totally agree with what you are saying.

Mistakes happen quite a bit here.

Fortunately the forum has a buy or sell subforum. Unfortunately you won't recoup all of your costs. Besides for some of these shoes your opportunity to replace them in all cases like the St James in Kudu\Cedar Calf Just aren't that easy.

Internet shoe shopping isn't ideal but for some it's the only thing we can do if we aspire to get some if not most of these brands.

Some have more difficult fit challenges than others, while some don't always do as much research as they could, but then again some Lasts tend to be more challenging than others.

Oh trust me I know about that & learned hard ways. Before finding style form I was thinking I am size 10US in all mall brand shoes. I realized my true size when I started buying high ends shoes which is 9Uk and 9.5US & have maid one mistakes in boots. It was half a size up. But thank got for thicker winter socks. And still bummed about missing out on G&G st James kudu/cedar calf.

I recently picked up 2 John Lobbs and a Gaziano Girling shoes. I typically wear a 11.5US. I took the John Lobbs in 10.5UK and the fit on the 7000 and 9795 lasts were spot on except for minor heel slippage which seems to lessen with each wear.

As to the G&G, I followed the oft repeated recommendation of going a half-size down from the US size so I ordered a derby in size 11UK/11.5US on the MH71 last. It seemed too big length and width wise. I returned it and got the 10.5UK/11US size. Fits like a glove out of the box.

Does this mean that 10.5UK/11US will be my fit across all the GG lasts/styles?

I don't have that experience I have tried on TG73 last which is little narrow in toe box area & went down half size. It worked for me, my educated guess would be try & error meaning try them on that size if it works keep it. If not return them & get the other size. I want to try MH71 last. You say it's very spacious? Leffot guy recommended to take same size that fits you well. Hope this helps.

Ok. Sizing down to 10.5UK (from 11UK/11.5US) has worked for me with the KN14 (loafter) last and now the MH71 (in derby) last for GG shoes. I've not tried the TG73 last yet. Khaki of Carmel was having a 20% off sale on some GGs and EGs (I've had no luck with the EG fit no matter the last and I seem to need a size wider than anything I've tried).

I am thinking of picking up another GG shoe from Khaki of Carmel (if the sale is still on) to round out my collection. The website seems to be down at the moment.

As to whether the MH71 is spacious, I'm not sure. The most I can say is, I just do not wear my normal size11.5US on that last. The derby I got on the MH71 last is a very handsome shoe and comfortable.

Sorry for the rambling.

Yea there are general trends to the fit from other brands to GG, 1/2 size down from US, but there are many who need to go down 1 full size for a better fit.

The lasts are also about the same in fit except for the toe box so if you have a certain type of foot ( long toes, wide forefoot, bunion, etc.), certain lasts will fit you better by your toes. And it can cause you to need a different size between lasts or even prevent you from wearing certain lasts comfortably at all due to the toe shape.

I tend to fill well in a dg70 8.5 and deco 8.5 but anything else is too large in the toe area and vamp.. I know a few others who have had this issue too. I think narrowing down or even just sizing down maybe the answer. A good fit in loafer (I like snug) for me is 7.5..

I actually hope the narrow 73 and 71 lasts fit well because the square toe looks much better in a narrow width.

So what color & wax would you guys recommend by Saphir medaille d'or for G&G that would match vintage pine color for Connaught shoe. Any help would be appricated.

I've been using Fawn/Light Brown on my Vintage Pine Sinatras.
