I have always admired G&G but it never was any more than aspirational, as it was difficult to reconcile the north of $1k price tag. I see the occasional lightly used pair pop up on the marketplace for less, but given the strength of the USD and impending price increase, just wanted to get some input on whether this is an opportune time to turn aspiration to reality. Thanks.

Predicting the future is impossible, but this is probably as good as you'll ever get it with regards to being able to have a wide variety of choices at this price level.

Like mentioned, sales occur for less but models and sizes tend to be limited.

I've bought 3 pairs (MTO) via G&G in Savile Row, the first in 2013 and then 2 last year. There was significant price jump from 2013 to 2014.

I'm already signed up and paid in full for a Skoaktiebolgaet GMTO and am seriously considering another before 1 March, because with the G&G price going up and the AUD (my currency) going down, I won't ever see this sort of value again.

For me, Skoaktiebolgaet are fabulous value.

Without a sale, yes. But they do go on sale every once in awhile (last I saw was Bergdorf right after Christmas). But as with every sale, you're very limited on models and sizes

Thanks for the helpful feedback, gentlemen - exactly what I was looking for.

The shoes are amazing in all aspects and also dealing with Skoab is an absolute joy! Looking back at history prices always tend to increase for various reasons. With that said you might regret it next time around if prices increase again...

I placed another order the other day (as a swede the increase of prices hits me a bit harder than the other guys) as if that will stop me haha :rotflmao:

I think G&G make the best shoes compared to the other top three English RTW shoes (JL/EG/GC), so their price tag is relatively speaking, great value. Their lasts are the sleekest (in my opinion) and the attention to detail they put in their shoes far exceeds the others, e.g a beveled waist and lacquered sole edges. These features don't exist in the other three shoemakers.

I posted this proposal about a week ago and got one interest only.  I went with the Hove on Skoak's website instead.

Can you elaborate and share your math?

Are we talking available stock RTW models, or MTO orders?

I can't speak to the stock pulls, but I think Nick does not raise prices on older stock, which is nice. That might be the situation here. As for MTO however, here is my MTO break down:

BE MTO, Arran = 1030 pounds (with shipping & trees) exl. VAT, which is approx. $1593

Skoak MTO now, Arran = 10240 SEK (with shipping & trees) exl. VAT, which is approx. $1218
Skoak MTO after (adding 25%), Arran = 12800 SEK (with shipping & trees) exl. VAT, which is approx. $1521

A clear difference, even after the Skoak price increase. Mind you, i don't know if BE is doing a price increase for GG this year, so their prices might go up even more. Either way, having multiple vendors can only be a good thing for the market, and Nick is a good guy. So chose whomever you like...
