What is the difference between black and the Deco black? and is there an upcharge associated with it?
Deco black was G&G's answer to Foster's black fading, but I am unaware if there is an upcharge on MTO.
It use to be an exclusive offering for the Deco range...with NO upcharge
Deco black is a specific leather which can take G&G's own fading process (I was told its not standard black calf).
You have to be specific on how much fading you want on the Deco black. I've seen it done with little fading and this is not to my liking. I prefer to have heavy or extreme fading...and usually you have to be specific on where you want it done...like the heel counter, throat, front apron...etc.
G&G's Deco black is still more subtle than the black bleaching/fading that Foster's offers.
No. Just MTO. Black Stingray Sinatra on the DG70 last. Nick takes much better pictures than I do:
Nice. The G&G stingray is pretty amazing, the only problem is finding events to wear them to. I was going to get a black pair as my wedding tux shoe but G&G could not source the leather, so I went with alligators. The stingray pair that I bought later are actually more 'wow' then the gator.
Speaking of patina/bleaching effects, from Nick's tumbler. GG is experimenting with this Oxblood finishing, hopefully it will make the MTO options list, cause it's lovely: Warning: Spoiler!(Click to show)
