Thanks Stitches

Wanted to report that I just met Mr. Girling at Leatherfoot's G&G trunk show, and he's a really nice guy. We talked a bit about the state of shoe manufacturing in the UK as well as the quality of leather G&G uses for their shoes.

He measured me up, and my proper G&G size is 8UK (I'm a typical 8.5US D, which goes to show that the info above is true; G&G measures half size down from US sizing; not full size down).

Want to thank Arne and the crew for letting me know about it, and look forward to purchasing a pair of Grants or Wholecut decos from Leatherfoot!.

Hey guys,

Thinking about picking up a pair of Grants or Deco Coopers from leather foot. Does anybody have experience with the Deco Cooper? Think it's approrpiate for business use, or only for evenings/galas, etc...?

Pic from Leatherfoot's website:

^^^ I would wear the heck out of those at the office - they are like a more chiseled version of my Carmina wholecuts, and those get plenty of office wear.  You should pop up to the G&G trunk show today if you have the time.

(Ps - never mind - just read your earlier post.)

Some shoe pics from the LeatherFoot G&G trunk show.  A great pleasure meeting Mr. Girling and getting fitted, and a first class event (as always) by the LeatherFoot team.

Would 20 stiches per inch look better to your oh-so-sophisticated eye?

Of course aesthetics matter.  I'm not really seeing that as an advantage here, though.  One could just as validly - and just as subjectively - declare that 7.5 stitches per inch "looks better" than 10.

This looks like a bespoke G&G in hatchgrain. Did you get to examine it closely enough to judge whether 10 stitches per inch looks better?

I really like the double-sole on these (and I am a fan of double soles in general).  How was the break-in?

Yeah, I liked the double sole more than I thought I would. I debated a bit on these because the double sole doesn't have the cool G&G fiddleback waist, but I'm glad I went with them. I've only worn them about 3 times, but I didn't find them to be too stiff or anything, so I'd say the break-in is going well.
