Oakham MH71 Vintage Rioja, photos courtesy of Nick

My Oakhams are on the way from Nick, too bad the weather is still bad here in Sthlm... have to wait until spring to try them in the wild

I'm really liking the MH71 last in photos these days (don't own a pair in this last myself).

Vintage Rioja is a great color. Dark enough to be conservative, purple enough to be modern, and interesting.

This thread is so much better than the Shoe Damage & Report Appreciation thread now!

me was get Tony to do seemless wholecut but me now think it bad idea.
lt can make leather weak.
lt bad if bespoke shoe split at back after 10 year.

I suspect, some leathers are better suited to this technique than others. I tried this with a vegetable retan and there was no part of the shoe that was over stretched or weakened. To the contrary, there was an abundance of extra leather that had to be dealt with under the arch and to a lesser extent around the back of the heel. I posted a photo of this somewhere here on SF, as I recall. The leather looked clean and good on the last and everywhere tight to the wood without stress..

The shoes Tony has made seamless for me have been executed very well, however the leather is slightly stretched and you can see how it is weakened, small cracks appear. its a novelty after all and has no real value. Not once has anyone stopped me on the street drooling with the words 'my god, you have seamless shoes', I was kind of lucky, the very first pair Tony made for me were seamless wholecuts as a surprise. You do this kind of thing when you can afford for them to not last 10 years and you don't care

Someone said earlier in this thread “there is no such thing as a Deco stock shoe, it is only made to order”. This is not entirely true. I mean, any retailer with balls enough is certainly welcome to order as many pairs they like and carry the Deco as stock. This is the case with Hans Allde, Stockholm. Drop by to have a look at their Deco Bowlly available in sizes 8.5, 9, 9.5, 10. A limited stock, but still a stock. :) I know of a very happy SF member who walked in and picked up a pair for himself this weekend. :D

I have an issue with my current G&G's (aside from the squeakiness). The left shoe when I walk the vamp bends dow cuts the top of my big toe. Is this just a sizing issue? I was thinking maybe going down a half a size, but in a wider width. Would this make any difference? When I was initially trying on shoes the uk 9 it seemed that my instep was too high, but it fit (laces could barely close) then uk 9.5 fit fine, but I have this toe cutting issue. Any ideas?

what colours are these in?

Black and a grey that has a patina that Nick was kind enough to work with G & G on.

I'm really hoping that the colors look like this in reality. It's for work though this colorway isn't exactly conservative, I think.

Looks great in that picture! Do you know how they managed to create that grey? Is it through some kind of bleaching a la deco?
