I don't understand that. I feel like the only difference is the very tippy tip of the shoe?

and therein lies the rub. the front is squarer/flatter and the toe box i think is also lower and flatter. a slimmer sleeker look all in all. thus, on a man of my proportions it does look a bit funny, duck footed as spoo was kind enough to say.

at first i didnt want to admit it because of how much i like the 73, but after getting trial pairs in both lasts and seeing them first hand the difference was clear. as much as i like the 73 as a stand alone last, on my feet there was no question i looked better in the 71.

so is life, if you are a fat **** you cant always wear exactly what you want.

I see what you are saying. If you tried them both then I guess you would know. FWIW, I don't think that you are a "fat ****".

on the six eyelet lacing for that deco.

Deco is all MTO; I wonder whether dropping to five(*) eyelet lacing would be an acceptable variation for a specific order.

- Julian

(*) Should that really be ten eyelet since that's the total number on the shoe or does one traditionally specify the number of pairs when talking about shoes?
