Yes I do prefer those. As you say photos sometimes distort the shape if you are not careful.

one of the guys at wilkes in SF was wearing a pair in the green and it wasnt light, it looked dark brown to me.

I own, as previously shown, a pair of Gable, vintage racing green, first shoe in the front row. I think they look almost black when using them indoorsIMG_0570.JPG.
