How is the finish so different?

I would guess the difference has to do with lighting and the shoes being hand finished but honestly I don't really know

Leica vs. Cell phone?

My guess is the pair from the Armoury has been polished and bulled by Ethan. I bought the same shoes in the same colour last August while in Hong Kong on vacation. Out of the box, they were fairly uniform in colour. He offered to polish and bull them while me and the wife got some lunch and the final result was darker and richer. I think he uses different colours (reds, browns, maybe even some black) to get the deeper colours, especially in the toe area.

You can check out Ethan's tumblr for some tips on polishing shoes...http://ethandesu.tumblr.com

Possible, but I will say, despite the fact that my pics were from my droid, they came out as a true representation of the irl color of the shoes.

Hi all,
Looking to pick up a pair of Rothchild's - any idea what size I should be looking for on the DG70, I'm normally a 9.5E UK in Edward Green and a 9E UK on Lobb 7000 last.

Also, is it safe to say that vintage chestnut from any other source is not going to look the same as the above photo of the Rothchild picked up via The Armoury?
