as usual, dwf offers a plausible remedy while giving members here a reality check in shoe making, ownership and expectation.

if the finish bothers you as much as the attempt to misdirect your focus, you're intelligent enough to bring it to the correct party's attention before any attempt to correct.

I'll be honest, they had to do a bit of work on this pair to resolve another issue, to the point they had to refinished the uppers. If that is the case, it was not the cleanest of jobs either. So there was plenty to be disappointed about. The fact they ignored the second problem complete, while telling me it was my fault, was completely unacceptable.

I don't care to have GG look at this pair for another 4 months, I just wanted them know that I am extremely disappointed. Which I have communicated to the appropriate parties already. I would hate for this to be my last GG MTO experience (aside from one MTO still in progress), but it is looking like it will be...

Yes.

One concern though - there is a small blemish as received at the topline.  The leather looks to be separated above the stitch line.  I would appreciate thoughts on whether this will get worse with wear of putting on the shoe and taking it off?

I might overlook it on another shoe, but a black wholecut with almost no embellishing really brings out the flaw.  I cannot find this shoe RTW anywhere else currently in my size, so should I live with it rather than return the shoe and take a price hit and suffer the lead time on MTO?

If u order any MTO shoes I will do the edges like how Aubercy does it. Folded in and not exposed for the money you pay I would not want exposed edges.

So I don't have to scroll back 10 pages, there is talk of a price increase for MTO, so what is the up charge now?
Well, for tier 1 MTO, I priced an Oakham at just over $1700 converted from Pound Sterling. So there was an increase indeed...
What's that £1000, how much is an Oakham usually? The last time I checked the upcharge was about £160 plus extras for extra details I wanted.

In store they told me 1100 ($1850) or 1200 GBP a week ago. I do not recall exactly which of the two. That was for a shoe rather than a boot.

ffffuuuu.gif It's painful...

Through Skoaktiebolaget, I prices the same Oakham at $1500. Still a lot, but saving myself a little bit...

Is there any place online that allows purchase of a pair of Antibes?

Additionally, how is the sizing on that last - TTS?

Thanks for any guidance.

Bespoke England probably carries the Antibes.

It is available on all of the lasts....I find that the lasts fit pretty much all the same. Standard UK sizing.
