'feeling of persecution' or ' unfair immigration polcies' are not one of them
Feeling like you're not part of society is a pretty common thread for mass killers, Islamic and otherwise. I'm more familiar with the ones in the US, but nearly all of the school shooters express those kind of sentiments. The Tsarnaevs did as well.
It doesn't mean society is to blame for their actions, but I think you can reasonably extrapolate that cracking down on Muslims is going to cause a short term increase in those situations. It's not so simple as "reduce Muslim immigration, fewer terrorist attacks." You're going to make the people who are already here more likely to lash out if you go too hard.
What mainly produces terrorism is islam and bombing of countries in the middle east. So if USA stops playing global chessboard with Russia and Iran and admits fewer and better vetted people from countries it bombs or plays then i think such policy would be an improvement over current one.
Nearly all of the Muslim terrorists in the US were born here. Our screening process is working to first order, we don't bring over people who proceed to kill Americans. Somewhere along the line, some small fraction of their kids end up radicalized and/or violent.
