There are plenty of options priced across the board, some better values, some are people just riding the train. In many cases you get what you pay for. Usually the $300 jeans do have an increase in production value in some way over $150 jeans, but not always.

Brands of note for $150 off the top of my head...

If you are willing to go up to even 225 or 250 you can make a huge jump in quality. Unsanforized denim will tend to yield better wear IMHO but like everything there are exceptions to any rule.

without hesitation i recommend RRLs off of ebay or B&S. easily the best jeans for the money.

In the $150 range there is no reason to settle for Nudies or Naked and Famous.

It's not that this community doesn't care about helping new members, in fact that's half the fun. But it doesn't hurt to do a little due diligence yourself. I literally typed "best denim under 150" in the search box and found some threads of interest. To me, what you are doing is the equivalent of going to a library and after not being able to find your book in 2 minutes yelling at the top of your lungs, "HEY I NEED HELP FINDING THIS BOOK!!!". Sure it's not the worst crime in the world, but you can't help but understand why you might get a few weird looks . And on a side note, welcome to Styleforum!

APC New Standards get my vote. Naked and Famous are good too, and you can find them on sale at Barney's quite often for less than $150

For $150ish there's a ton of things open to you. APC, KMW, and Dior can all be purchased if you find it on sale.

In my opinion these are some of the best brands too, many retail for $300 but you can just wait until the season passes.

I always thought that the button fly was for women's jeans, enlighten me please. So when you guys are talking about spending $300 on a pair of jeans, what makes them better than a pair of $30 Levis? I remember in high school the cool kids spent $300 on jeans but they had a huge logo on the rear, it was like a tiger or something. But apparently they were really cool and expensive, personally not my cup of tea but to each his own. Errors brought to you courtesy of Tapatalk.

Button fly was pretty standard for a long time...a lot of higher end makes and repro jeans use buttons. IMO better suited for unsanforised denim, and more easily repaired too. I think the $300 jeans we're talking about is very different from the $300 jeans your highschool classmates bought. These jeans usually aren't very attention-seeking, they don't scream "designer" - just simple, yet classic with the beauty in the smaller details - you won't be brand-flashing anybody, but you'll get the occasional nod or wink from a fellow denim-nerd. The cost is mostly in the high-quality fabric, dye and hardware, the detailed and considered construction, etc. Of course a lot of these artisan makers are small-scale productions, and they need bigger margins just to keep going (e.g. ROY is an one-man show, a lot of SDA products are limited to 50 ~ 300, etc). First world pant-makers get paid first world wages, too. I'm sure there are plenty more reasons...
