Vintage 1960s-Rolex Speedking Stainless Steel Watch- *NOW ON EBAY AUCTION, 99 CENTS*

This is somewhat of an interest check/SF opportunity, as I'm planning on putting this on ebay as an auction soon if it doesn't sell quickly. I bought this for myself, but I now realize it's a little too small for me as my main watch is a Breitling (Breitling are generally large). I guarantee authenticity or your money back of course. I JUST (4/7/11) brought this into a watch repair, exchange, etc place and had it opened and inspected. He confirmed that it was 100% authentic and in very good condition. Similar watches (some of which are the same model but worse condition/uglier) are going for over $1k on ebay. EDIT- THREAD UPDATED WITH NEW INFO AFTER BEING INSPECTED BY WATCH STORE Rolex Speedking 6430 Stainless Steel watch. Signed (Rolex) dial and crown. As with most vintage watches, it doesn't have a Rolex band or buckle. It's really a great looking watch and it's too bad that it won't work out for me. Size: 30mm Serial #: 149XXXX 17 Jewels. 972 NOW UP ON EBAY AUCTION STARTING AT 99 CENTS. CLICK HERE FOR EBAY AUCTION LINK Here is a similar, but uglier watch ending in a few hours that's already bid up over $940... The following pictures are all taken without a flash. The last few pictures are from the Watch dealer that opened it up and inspected it. He wrote the information and condition on the card and stamped it. The pictures of the inside are from my camera phone.

30mm is just the case I assume. I haven't measured it myself, but that's what was described when I bought the watch. I don't know if the dial was refinished or if the case has been polished. Is there anyway to check?

One of the better looking vintage watches I've seen! Might have bought it off you if I didn't just buy a seamaster

Glws!

Where was this 1 months ago? If I didn't just send two watches out for service I would totally buy. Great looking watch.

Do you know what movement it has? Automatic? Any service history? Real or print croc strap?

I'm not sure where you bought it, but the first thing you should do when you buy a vintage watch is take it to a vintage watch repair person as they need to be maintained and if you don't know the maintenence history, you could be running it into the ground. In addition, a repair person can tell you if it is authentic and if all the correct parts are there and give you informaion on the movement, etc.

Good information.

I'm not familiar with the 972 movement. I will ask my watch maker about it when he opens tomorrow.

A couple more questions. 30mm, is that including the crown or just the case? Is the dial refinished? Any signs of polishing on the case?

Thanks

Should be the case - the Speedking is their smaller sized watch like the Airking and Explorer. Great way to get into a Rolex especially if you aren't a larger guy.

I wish my giant Rolex book had a real index so I could find some additional info, unfortunately the 6430 case # isn't in the index and the book is written in such a manner I'd need to reread it to glean anything specific to the Speedking out of it.

Great book though, looks like they have updated since my original version:

nice watch - definitely a great buy for someone who has a bit smaller wrist - the speedking has a pretty cool history as well. don't have to have a small wrist to rock it, it's just smaller than most watches. beautiful though. glws!
