Moving to Columbus, Georgia

As title states, I will be relocating this summer. Downtown seems nice with lots of restored mills and the riverwalk. However, there are some depressed areas toward the south of the city. Any Georgia locals with additional info or survival tips? Thanks in advance.

No, teaching at private school on the north side of the city. Not really looking for a big city scene though, just somewhere to raise a family. I get my rugby through Dish.

Columbus will be good for that. Its a small Southern city with everything you'd expect with that. Not too far from Atlanta so that's not too bad.

I mean its fairly unremarkable but not in a bad way.
