Think I'm Taking the Plunge: WoW Cataclysm - Page 9

This weekend I was recruited by a good, adult guild. They are raiders, mainly long term players, 30+ years of age. Pally just hit 79 and in the next couple of weeks I'll tank my first Cata dungeon, which will probably be Blackrock Caverns.

Tanked Throne of Tides yesterday as my first Cata dungeon. I was 82, with okay gear for a newly made toon, but ran it with four gildies all at 85 and epically geared. Only had agro problem on one boss to do with the hunter but good other than that. Got the tank ring from Lady Naz'jar which is cool.

Later on I dinged 83 and I'll make another couple of dungeon runs this week if I can get a guild group together. They know I'm fresh back to the game and talked me through the bosses on Vent very well.

I've only been back in the game about 5-6 weeks. I was recruited to this guild about 2-3 weeks ago and have been chatting with the mainstays since then. Most are married folks, guys and gals, with jobs and lives. Like me, they want to focus on scheduling a run or two, and then log off. Their walk through was good, I only lost agro once on a phase transition, and the whole thing was very calm and controlled (unlike some PUGs I've been in).

We plan to start 25 man raids in September so I'm just getting geared up right now.

Okay, about six weeks since my last post in this thread. My prot pally is ilvl 360 now. I need to get an epic in one trinket slot and my head slot. Epic head is hard to come by due to needing a certain token from certain bosses to get it. About to get my dragon mount from Tol Barad tomorrow and then will start saving the 125 tokens needed for the tank trinket from there. I've tanked several heroic five mans now and will probably off tank a 10 man of Bastion of Twilight Thursday. I hope I don't screw up as there are a number of complicated boss fights with major mechanics.

New gaming rig is purring. I was getting video lag but finally fixed it. The WoW options defaulted to Direct X 9 and when I changed it to 11, problem solved. Running my new 24" widescreen at a full 1920 x 1080 with all settings maxxed.

Made a shammy and he's 65 now. I want a melee dps so went enhanc. After I get him lvl capped and geared I'll dual spec into resto so I can heal if needed.

Furo, you still playing Rift? Actually thinking about maybe playing around with it a bit.

I co-tanked heroic BoT this weekend. What an eff'ing hoot. I was the solo tank for the Valiona and Theralion encounter and that was a one shot. MT for the Halfus Wyrmbreaker because as a pally I can shed my debuff stacks once, so I did a double before OT'ing a drake while I let my stacks run off.

Cho'gall I was the stationary tank. So I stood just down the stairs from his throne and whacked his ass while the OT did the adds. On Phase 2 I pulled him right up to his throne and just whaled on him while DPS burned him down. I also got two epic helms. One was my main spec, a tank helm (which I needed badly as that was my only blue left), and one a dps helm. I'm starting to put together a dps set so I can dual spec to Ret and do dps when the guild needs it.

Nef kill last night. First time doing Nef, downed him on the second try. So intense for tanks, so much to do and keep track of. I did Onxyia in the first phase and tanked Nef in second.

Did both encounters for Throne of the Four Winds yesterday. I have now tanked all Cata raids except the new Firelands one. We will get to that soon.

Have not raided since a week ago Thursday

If all goes according to plan will raid this Thursday and Saturday.
