Like most other posters here, I like the brown/gray combination and use it most often with shoes/trousers.

Your brown/gray/brown combination may not be working because your shirt is also chocolate brown. With the gray sweater and chocolate brown jacket, I'd try a shirt of almost any color other than gray or chocolate brown. I'd use the shirt to inject some color and bring a viewer's eyes to my face--I'd wear a pink, blue, cream or maybe even a lavender or loden green shirt.

A brown necktie mates nicely with a grey suit too, at least in NYC where some men take it to the next level by matching the tie to brown shoes.

I dont know if there's an aversion to this anywhere else, including England. Although I was speaking to an English clothing company the other day and they were telling me that brown as a secondary color in shirts and with matching background ties is very popular suddenly. So it may be fashionable in England now but I wonder if it's a staple.

Good advice. To add, the shirt color that probably is the best choice is 1) already in the wardrobe (funny how no one mentions that detail) and 2) flatters the coloring (such as blue with blue eyes).

For business casual & weekend wear, do the below medium grey colored pants go with either of the below brown shoes?

Not looking for perfect, but I am attempting to understand how brown and greys pair up together.

Go very well together just as long as there's a bit of contrast in shades, light grey and brown, or light brown and grey
