French Cuff with Notch

Hey everyone,

I am having a Modern Tailor shirt made and asked for their notched french cuff, however I asked to have the notch be placed where the cuff meets the wrist (as opposed to at the top of the cuff when folded over). I prefer notched french cuffs for typing on the computer, but MT doesnt have an option for the cut-in to be located at the bottom. Do any of you have an image I can send to them of a cuff as I have described? Or perhaps a more eloquent way of explaining it?

only one corner of a french cuff can be notched.

this is, of course, assuming i understand what you mean by "notch."

Not true. You can clip the very end of the unfolded cuff (which puts the 45-degree angle up near the sleeve) or you can engineer a triangle cut-out halfway down, which-- wjem folded-- mimics the beveled button cuff. http://usd.opalona.com/shirts/french...irts-cuffs.php

I know a tailor who did this to his French-cuff shirts after the corners were somewhat frayed. Being English, he never would have thought to use button cuffs.

i'm not sure if you are referencing the cocktail/neapolitan cuffs in your link?

never seen a french cuff that is beveled on the outboard end, i wonder if it is common?

It is silly but it can be done
You can have it beveled on the top and bottom
it's not because it can be done that it should be.

You could try taking a pair of scissors to it very carefully.
