The most isolated man on Earth

This is a remarkable story that I came across while reading about some largely uncontacted indigenous tribes in Brazil. Officials have established that this man is the last member of his tribe, which was seemingly wiped out in 1996 by loggers. He is semi-nomadic, moving among huts that have holes dug in the middle of them for an unknown purpose.

Well worth reading.

I read about this a while ago, he attacked some gov. officials that tried to make contact right? Even after that, they decided to leave him the fuck alone. Pretty cool, too bad they wiped out his tribe.

Story reminds me closely of Ishi--the last truly "wild" Indian in North America, who turned up in a corral in Northern California in 1911 and lived out his final years in a museum in San Francisco. His skills with the bow and arrow played a significant role in the revival of archery as a sport. A sad story, Ishi's was, but at least it had a peaceful ending.
