If that were true, Alden would've been out of business a long time ago, sir. What I'm saying is this: if you are making big bucks with J.Crew, expand so the other retailers - who kept you afloat for close to a hundred years - do not have to play second fiddle.

Probably is true. Large stores such as J. Crew and BB probably have contracts with Alden guaranteeing a certain amount of profit vs. the mom and pop's. If you think about the scale of their contracts, that's a lot of guaranteed cash flow.

I'm not sure how much more J Crew sells than the rest.  If anything, JC & BB order a lot of the same shoe (almost like a catalog item).  That allows Alden to batch out their production (maybe making it more efficient).  JC & BB probably give Alden a guarantee (i.e. we will order X number of shell cordovan, calf, etc.).  The boutique dealers place smaller orders for a larger variety of shoes.  How many of us would be hanging off of Alden if we could only buy J Crew or Brooks Brothers make ups?

I have to agree with Roguls here. Alden does not seem to be minding the kind of retailers try came up with. It shouldn't be that hard for Moulded. By comparison, as far as I understand it, Carmina has worked with Mike from Epaulet to develop a new boot style. Perhaps companies at different points in their cycles. Speaking of Moulded, got a message that these are in:41922a.jpg

I have a pair coming from a summer order.

^^^^

those are nice, so much for not ordering anything else for awhile, off to contact moulded..

sadly, even without the recent carmina price increase, their cordovan is out of my price range :poorpeopleproblems:

Ahhhh, the scotch grain is awesome!  I just can't stand the perf cap toe.  I don't know why.  I prefer a plain cap toe.

I know we're still waiting for the Kudu make up to fall out.  Is there any interest in a Black Shell Cordovan Modified make-up?  I think Moulded can do that.  Shoe/boot/slip on?

I've been eyeing their PCT boot in black

I have too  .  .  .  I just can't deal with the perforated cap toe!!!!!  Give me a black shell Modified last plain cap toe, all eyelets (nickel or antique brass), with a cork-neo or leather sole.

We should.  Any other takers?

I might be interested in a plain toe boot in black shell. No cap at all. Neo-cork and shell intrigues me for some reason.

I can do a plain toe, yes.

I'd be interested. Would prefer a cap toe. And sorry but the Kudu has neocork so I'd want leather.

We can work something out.

I am likely in for a simple black shell shoe/boot. Cap toe or plain toe are ok. Prefer shoe to boot. Only interested in leather sole for this.
