Count me in.  One month into a pair of modified last calfskin from Moulded Shoe.  My most comfortable Alden without a doubt.  I like the look with a perforated cap toe especially.

The Alden Store on Madison Avenue in NY has a run of V-Tip Modified Last shoes in Black and Color #8 - Both in Shell Cordovan. I picked up a pair of in #8 in my size. They haven't had them in the store very long and I'm sure they'll go quick. Prices are in-line with other Alden NE Shoes in Shell, if not a touch higher.

Stop by the store or call them direct - they ship....

Yeah, I saw those a few weeks ago. Price was about $650 IIRC.

Whaaaat?!

Alden on Madison definitely has juice with Alden - they won't let Moulded do a shell makeup, but allows Madison...so annoying. The guys at Moulded are far more adventurous in their makeups.

Totally agree with you. There's a huge gap for this shoe in NY and Japan:

With the current USDJPY exchange rate, these shoes are ridiculous! We're talking $1250 before delivery IF you can find a size that fits you.

I like the V-Tip so I jumped on it. I have lots of cap toes from Moulded - Medallion, Plain, Perf, etc - too many caps... NST in Shell #8 would make me very happy but I don't see that happening. Check out Leathersoul for a nice display of V-Tips - Tom sells a ton of them on Barrie and other lasts (not on ML).

Fantastic selection there. A plain toe cordovan boot in shell Modified last would be amazing. You're right, though: the only way to get $700 shell boots or shoes on the Modified is to spend $1200 and up. Insane. The retail structure (and market) is available right here in the US!

Well now I know why it took a year for Alden to deliver Ravello Brixton to Epaulet.. Too busy shipping $1200 boots to Japan!

One of my best fitting Alden's are the V-tip, Barrie in shell no. 8. They follow the contour of my feet more closely than any other leather I have on tap.

May I add you to the list?

Can I ask, did you purchase the shell captoes in the US?
