Wedge soled boots are not "new," in any way. They were standard for work boots - and they are a huge part of Alden's heritage. Alden has made such a resurgence mainly because of the Indy Boot - which is really the 405, which Harrison Ford wore because he had feet that fit well in a Foot Balance last.

The fashion is about the heritage. It just so happens that they fit really well, too.

Back on track: who's next?

Since when has the Indy boot been offered with a wedge sole? My understanding is that they've been offered with the cork neoprene sole. Is that not correct?

I'm interested in getting some modified shell. As for those indy boots- i rather like the look of Moulded's indy boots, they certainly look different from other similar boots out there.

Indy is not the only style they have. Please refer to these. They've used a white crepe sole in the past quite often, and it is part of their heritage. The ubiquitous nature of the Indy may have skewed your perception of the brand. They've been around long before style forum, and were a serious maker of work shoes for people with *strange* feet.

Put me on that list. Some color 8 modified indy boots would be fantastic.

I have no experience with the modified last, but I have wide feet, a medium arch and normal heels. I like the hampton last TTS - it hugs my ankle and has plenty of forefoot room. Sounds like the modified fits similar. Wearing barrie color 8 ptbs right now, and definitely wish the heel was less roomy.

You can add me to the list. I'm all for diversity in Alden lasts, and I can see myself getting into Moulded Shoe someday soon to try on the #8 cap toes. I'd like to judge the aesthetic and fit in person.

Nope, not yet - still awaiting the one's I want. And hoping the Euro continues its slide v. the dollar. In my humble opinion, they are in the upper echelon of Alden designers for special makeups.
