Curious - what's Esquire's target demographic?

I'm a 31 y/o male and started reading it over the past couple years. It fits me well but I feel it's too fashionable for some folks on MC.

Read their *media kit.* It tells you a lot about their audience. The big problem with Esquire and GQ is that they're forced to feature their advertisers (Gucci, Prada, Boss, etc.) in their editorial. (Not surprising since a full-page ad runs about $110K.) The Black Book is different, though. Definitely worth buying and keeping.

I always enjoy the fall editions, but the spring ones haven't done much for me. Much harder to come up with new and interesting content for spring and summer, I'd guess. Harder to work up enthusiam for summer clothing in general, at least for me.

That said, I'll still check it out. Maybe this is a good 'un.

My first one was the issue with the Manton piece.

It's kinda fell off since then but I'll still buy.

Opposite for me - here in Texas spring/summer clothing can be worn almost all year round so I much prefer lightweight suits, linen, cotton, vacation stuff than sweaty tweeds and bulky overcoats and heavy knit sweaters.

I've got all of the Black Books but they are starting to become just like the magazines in that there's only so many ways you can promote classic looks before it all becomes repetitive, so then they start out with more esoteric looks that I'm not interested in. Was it last fall they had a bunch of Barbour type jackets, cords, hiking boots etc.? - not my bag maaan!

I think I get more value out of one issue of the BBB than I do out of a whole years sub to Esquire or GQ. I'll have to find one of these "news stands" on my way home and grab a copy.

Don't confuse it another fashion magazine titled "Black Book".

You want the "Esquire Spring 2011 Big Black Book"

Some Borders that are going out of business are selling it (all magazines) for 40% off
