Eye Floaters - Anyone Else Have Them?

No, not the toilet kind of floaters...

I'm talking about those little bit of debris that rise and fall in your vision when looking especially at white backgrounds. I try to forget about them, but they're still there.

I have one in my right eye. I went to the doctor as a kid cause my mom was scared. Doctor said it was just a little ball of cells floating in eye. BTW, I about pissed my pants when I first saw this...

that's what my mom told me when i was a child.

Funny, I always assumed that everyone had these (they're definitely noticeable in both of my eyes), but I mentioned the topic to my wife the other day, and she had no idea what I was talking about.

Floaters are dust on the surface of your eye, and yes everyone should have them. There are also things like small tears (rhymes with bears not beers) in the eye that are permanent.

No, they are not.

"Eye floaters are little specks of debris floating through the vitreous fluid in the eyeball. Sometimes people may momentarily confuse them with dust or tiny insects floating across in front of the eye. However, they are within the eyeball and are not eliminated by rubbing the front of the eye. They follow the rapid movements of the eye while drifting slowly from one place to another. If floaters didn't move, they would be invisible due to a process called neural adaptation."

Yeah, they are supposedly little bits of protein and stuff in your eye that haven't been absorbed and just float around. I really only notice mine if I am looking towards a light or at a white wall.

I've never had one

If you have always had them then its ok but if there's an increase then I would see a opthamalogist immediately.

Looks like a fun procedure in a way, at least for the doctor. FF to about 50 seconds in to see it.

I feel like everyones got these. My pops says they appear in his eyes right before a migraine sets in. But he's crazy and also says they are an indication that someone has eaten in a while or something weird like that.

I asked my eye doctor about them. He said they were loose strands of cells and proteins floating around in the eye, and that they're nothing to worry about
