Definitely industry standards. I'm sitting in my office in Buckhead right now. The guy on the desk next to me has worn shorts and flip flops twice this week. I wear a sport coat almost everyday solely because I enjoy it. I could just as easily never dawn a collared shirt if I did it strategically.

Thank you, it's cotton actually. I guess you could say the same "rules" applies to both types of fabric though. And I do understand where you're coming from, peaked lapels are generally something you find in more formal jackets. However, I love this particular piece of cotton.

Still trying to see if I can work out this iPad for photos. Possibly not.

Now I am not sure about it. I think the shirt is at odds with the DB(the material seems rather sleek in the photo). To borrow from recent critiques of one of Spoo's fit, they are "incongruous". Another color check or a different pattern in lavender may work better. Overall, I still like it, just not as much as that first "WOW!" moment.

Finally, the tie and shirt combo rocks.

Thanks for the feedback. I guess I'd say that the suit's fairly informal anyway (DB, birdseye, light grey) and the shoes are also pretty informal (reddish-brown monks), so the informal shirt "felt" in tune and comfortable with that. Fortunately, even if strictly/technically inappropriate, most people don't think about clothes, the first impression probably matters more, most of the time, so I'm glad that was at least was positive.

Swedish conductors generally just wear waistcoats, short sleeved shirts and polyester ties, so I think I'm safe as long as I don't cross any country borders.

Trial run of a new shirt.

I don't like the effect the tab collar creates in relation to the lapels and tie. Otherwise, nice court outfit!

hi, thanks - the suit is from paul smith, it's the byard cut, slightly altered. the shoes are also paul smith, miller brogues. to wrap up details the shirt is dunhill, tie is jil sander, socks are from costco and the PS from a little menswear shop on the graben, in vienna.

These two combinations pose the same problem to me. On the left, the tie appears to have pindots, but the dots really create small squares that are basically the same size as the gingham pattern on the shirt. On the right, it looks like a grenadine. Like the tie on the left, the tie doesn't technically have a square pattern, but, visually, the weave effectively creates a small square pattern that mimics the pattern in the shirt.

I can see why when grabbing these ties, one could think that they don't have matching patterns with the shirts. Hell, the tie on the right is a solid. However, the visual effect of each just doesn't work for me with the shirts.
