There's little I appreciate more than knowing you're wearing something ridiculous and enjoying wearing it all the more for that. Nice one. Just from browsing their site, Epaulet seem to have really good range of trousers, if the fit works for your build (it clearly does for you).

In truth, I think it's a little dark for the look, but I didn't have much choice as the shirt is much bolder than I've previously worn with that suit, making the tie choice all the more difficult. I opted out of a square for much the same reason.

I was in two minds about black grenadine or black satin, but thought the grenadine complemented it better, at least for a daytime look. What weaves were you thinking might work well?

I really like this Holdfast. Really a breath of fresh air to see someone looking good without a jacket that's too short or 'high water trousers' without socks as you see all too often in the non-sartorialist pic thread. I think your suit is excellent.

both ties are completely unlined and are just not going to make a knot that a lined tie does. I offered Mbreinin a lined tie or to send it back and i would have it lined. I'll offer the same to TTO. I don't care about perfectly dimpled knots but for those that do, for the most part you will need some lining in the blade to get that, unless it's a very thick fabric. For me at least, the point of an unlined tie is that it is a bit "sloppy". Anyway, most of the newer ties are lined.

Thanks for the offer Ed, but not a chance, I love it as it is! For the record my other panta's have caused me no problems and I wondered what people had issues with. This one is such a beautiful, soft, springy fabric, and I think that helped cause my conundrum, the top of the knot kept folding in and collapsing on itself...this was only attempt 2 at a DFIH and was good enough for me! To clarify, I highly recommend Ed's Tie's, I have 4, and mean to buy more in the future! InStitches...dream on mate! Mike, thanks man, appreciated...but really, 20 minutes? I think unlined ties makes for interesting knots, never really thought of it as a difficult thing to pull off though. I love your ties btw, being a fiddler in the art of tie making it's always interesting to see quality work like this.
