Unlike the old school posters like Moo. I miss him, I hope he is OK.

BTW, that's "pleb hater.". A "plebe hater" would dislike frosh at West Point or the Naval Academy. I mention that since you like to learn new things.

I stand corrected. However, I can see you being a terror to the freshman class.

And yes, I do like to learn new things. Thats why Im here.

This is the classic mens clothing side of the forum. I think it's a fair statement to make that classic mens clothing encompasses suits/sportcoats/dress shoes/office pents and some variations/derivations. Jeans and a sportcoat can be considered a casual variation on classic menswear(although I don't like the look) but jean shorts and a wifebeater would not. Which brings me to your post (and, while I am singling you out, too many here do the same). So you are at a Pride parade wearing old man boxer shorts, sock garters, sneakers and a wife beater. How is that remotely connected to what was once the theme of this thread? Unless you are showing us your take on 85 year old men undergarments, I don't get it. There is nothing to see/learn/suggest from your post. Too many posts here have become this wasteland where the OP knows he is posting an awful outfit, is not looking to change/improve in any way, shape or form and couldn't care less. (get off my lawn diatribe coming) When I started here and looked at WAYWN, there was tons of stuff to see and learn from. Be it bespoke, off the rack, thrift store, lots of great stuff. Even if you didn't like any outfits, there was always color, fabric, pattern information you could apply to your wardrobe. So when you were new to dressing well and you came here and saw pics, you saw endless possibilities on how to improve. Now a newbie gets wifebeaters, super tight pants (with requisite crotch shot), costumes and outfits that should be worn when gardening. Instead of a valuable resource, it's become an extension of peoples twatter/Facebook accounts. You (not you individually Kevin) dont have to post everyday. You don't have to post every outfit. Save the best for here. Look through the old WAYWN for inspiration. When you are dressed like a grown man that is going to an interview/first date/art gallery/client meeting/wedding etc post here. When you are dressed like you are going to a Phish concert, post on Facebook.
I also get the feeling that folks dress less well in the summer because their MC-appropriate wardrobe is biased toward the other three seasons. Now that most men aren't required to wear suits, they're even less likely to wear them when it's hot. I suspect (hope) the thread will get better as the temperature drops. My theory anyway...

Not looking for a iFight with anyone - just calling spade a spade.

I have seen a fair amount of homophobia on SF in general (and called it out), but I think the reactions to Kevin are more to his clothes than his orientation. I don't like the "****" comments and whatnot, but I don't remember any comments about his fits which crossed the line. That said, the pride parade pic was clearly intended to be a lighthearted post. I think Kevin has been a good sport in reaction to some fairly harsh criticism.

I need neither your approval for my fits, nor your disapproval -this novice is leaving this cyber-cloister, leaving the finest parsing of the Gospel of Sartorial Correctness to those who might actually believe that such a thing exists. I will leave all you fine straight men to believe that your taste for clothes is merely taste, and that you're not experiencing anything like a bromance with any of the other posters herein - far be it from me to dispel delusions from the truly, hopelessly delusional.

Señor Crust, I hope you know that I'm a supporter of your presence here in WAYWRN and like your style even though it's not my own. So, that said (and having no knowledge of demonstrated homophobia on Vox's part), can I suggest that this reaction may be a bit too much? Even if Vox is a bigot, I don't see how that is relevant to your posting pics in this thread.

I've had mostly good experiences but it's highly dependent on what you are retaining.

Reevolving reminds me of a young Michael Jordan. When he first came into the league people were comparing him to Dr. J and others but eventually it became obvious that he was like nothing they had seen before.

I joined around 2006 I think but my earliest saved pics are from Oct 2008. I messaged the mods about some sort of wiki fits archive by poster, item description, etc. Seems unlikely to happen though. anyway, my little 'archive' is free to anyone who wants it. The only issue is I've really just saved pics of things that I own for ideas on how to use them, or items I see come up regularly so I add them to my list of to buy's, which also means i have a lot more pics of certain posters versus others. I'm tired and not sure if this makes any sense:
as for the 'golden days' discussion, I'll say that I've been following this thread for about 4-5 years now pretty religiously and in many ways it has changed, and I don't know if it's for the better. I agree that many of the older posters have stopped putting up pics, a few of the new guys are interesting (although quickly get repetitive - eg NOBD, Crusty, etc) and some of the newer members have ignored the fundamentals. So what do we do? 1. Encourage new posters.... by not being so harsh right away but slowly bringing on the feedback. maybe we do some sort of contest, or pull in some SW&D folk by cross-posting a bit, or post in other forums (AAAC) to get some of their members over, etc. and keep them here too... There are not only many regular posters who've gone but we had a few guys show up, see big improvements and then disappear (remember JMHession or something for example?). Any ideas on getting people locked in? My only one is: 2. Make this thread more valuable by giving real feedback to improve the quality of old and new members alike. At the least, what I've been trying to do (and would encourage others to as well) is to give responses to the pics with ideas for improvement so anyone, no matter what 'level' they're at will always be getting better. And yes, the circlejerking has been happening for years. Every PG post gets raves from various noobs. why? well he exemplifies the concept of SF, a unique and consistent style. How do we get more of that? be aware of balancing out the intake of new members and conforming them to a basic level with their fundamentals (fit, proportion, texture, color, pattern), with helping them grow and refine their looks into something very personal. This happens when we balance the feedback between getting it to conform to a basic idealogy and promoting experimentation. example - Crusty got/gets a lot of flak because he's got the fundamentals down really well but it sort of got boring after a while because it seems (to me anyway) that there's no real unique personality there. In contrast, Spoo was so unique and exotic that the looks started to look incoherent and the feedback was for him to start toning it down. And then there's guys like Holdfast who hit the happy medium with the occasional hop over the line The feedback side can happen easily here, and hopefully some of the crusty old-timers who know 'the rules' can help on that end, while the experimentation side comes from initiatives like the Friday challenge, and SW&D cross-posts, etc. So i'm looking out for new ideas of that sort (eg the DTO/copy a favorite post). so let's try to attract new posters and provide new and old ones with value that makes it worth posting a pic. Which is indirectly a response to the discussion about the merits of posting lifestyle pics... IMO there's a very small place for them here, a place, but a small one. I guess everyone has different tastes but TBH it's one thing to see Neofinitia jumping around the world and another to see someone's wife/kids. I think regular contributors get more leeway, but probably not because they should but because nobody wants to call them out on it
