Eh, I see what you're saying from the photos. I hope it's because I had my phone, wallet, and keys in my pockets. If not, ah well; comes with the sack coat territory, and I'm ok with that.

Ah, I see what you mean, it does look pretty silly. A lighter shirt definitely works better with a suit. As for the shape, I would get it tailored...but I'm sort of afraid to do that until I stop growing. The suit is by Richman...Strathmore. I probably would have gone for the 6x2 configuration, but they didn't have any when I bought it. Anyway, I appreciate the advice! Haha, the sting hurt a little...but at least you're being helpful. And Maccimus, my father absolutely hates suits.

Teen_Suit_Wearer - I'm 16, and I would strongly suggest against buying extra suits while you are growing and i'd also advise to get your current suit tailored.

You'll be dressing a little uptight probably, in comparison to your peers. Instead, if you want to look well dressed but not stuffy, go for things like blazers and chinos (that is, if you don't have them already).

But yeah, shoulders are too padded, needs to be drawn in at the waist and the shirt sleeves are too short. And the tie is not that great, not gonna lie.

Yeah, I probably won't be buying anymore suits for a while. There's a tailor pretty close by that does alterations, so I'm thinking I'll check it out some time and find out their prices. As for more casual clothes, I've worn a sport coat with jeans in the past, and loved it...it's a great look, and it seems to get a lot of comments. I consider it well-dressed but not stuffy. However, I usually just wear jeans and an untucked button shirt. As for the chinos, how would you wear those without looking too formal or nerdy? Also, do you have any idea what a plain, silver tie will look good with?

Chinos aren't exactly formal, so I wouldn't worry about it looking formal unless you had pressed them and were wearing with a button down oxford and tie. You can rock the chinos with a sportscoat, no problem. Look back a few pages in this thread to find things like it, there's plenty. To avoid the nerd look, just don't wear short sleeve shirts, and carry a calculator and you should be fine. Wear them with informal shoes - anything for brown penny loafers (which seems to be your kinda formal-ish-for-your-age style) or desert boots. You'll be fine. An oxford button down, in a wide range of colours. Chinos don't strike me as being nerdy to be honest...

I would also, if wearing a shirt, tuck it in. Unless it is a camp shirt, or an overshirt.

So you'd consider it socially acceptable to wear sport coats and tucked shirts, in high school? I'm really glad to hear that...I was afraid I would have to stop dressing like that from time to time. I'm actually known for how well I dress. So I have a pair of black, pinstripe dress pants, and I think they're really stylish/sharp looking. Could I wear these, a dress shirt and a sport coat, and not look "stuffy?" I would lose the jacket, but I'm afraid to wear a tucked-in shirt without one. As always, I'd undo the top two buttons of the shirt, and spread the collar out wide.

Google it, it'll come up with something. I'd say going in pinstripe dress pants is too formal, but in jeans and chinos definitely not. What you're describing sounds like something i'd do perhaps once a week, otherwise keep it casual with a button down, tucked into chinos with a nice belt (braided, perhaps, to continue the casual look), with loafers. Getting cold, slip into a few knits and you'd be fine.

happy Saturday ladies,

The lightly structured jacket is a great casual look, but to my eye it looks incongruous with the tie - a pattern I generally associate with conservative business-wear. A solid navy or brown knit or even, dare I say it, no tie at all would have worked better here.

Also, because there is so much going on pattern-wise at the top, but not so much at the bottom, the colour combination draws a lot of attention to itself, instead of easing upwards and framing the wearer's face.

Unless you have neon-rimmed glasses...
