i know this has been beaten to death, but it just looks off. pants are rumply-ish cotton (which is fine for chinos) and SC is very clean crisp wool. they are visually fighting each other.

imo, and im a bit of a bitch about this, chinos/khakis are really really hard to do with a wool SC. you need to have either a super luxe chino that essentially drapes like wool or a very deconstructed almost cotton looking wool SC for them to make sense together for me.

i understand the rain dilemma, its a real bitch. imo, the best thing to do is to either bite the bullet and get your nice pants wet and then press them, or dress down the top half along with the bottom.

my 2 cents.

another tip that has worked well for me @Kylerton is to tie the knot closer to the neck. When you tie it trying to look down on it, it often loosens the knot, but the video @Mr. Six posted a couple pages back post #78120 does a great job of detailing how tying closer to the neck line helps almost form the dimple before you complete the knot!

And like others have said, welcome to the Forum. Your style is awesome and the next time I am in California, I want to definitely stop by your shop and check it out!

Would love to -- do you know when that is? I saw one in Oakland for next week.

Well, you're already ahead of me because I didn't hear about the Oakland meet-up. There's nothing scheduled for San Francisco at the moment, but it's been a while, so I'm sure we'll have one before long.

@Kylerton, if someone as incompetent at dressing themselves as me is able to tie a dimple, you should be able to do it in your sleep :)

This overly complicates things, but might help. FWIW, I think the FIH dimples plenty enough.

Some ties are harder to dimple than others - I find a couple of mine e.g. soft wool challises from Drake's, really difficult to hold that little beauty.  A stronger knot e.g. HW can help (or even FW, there I said it!).  But here's a top tip from an amateur: when you've made the horizontal loop of the knot and have pushed the front blade down through it, before tightening it, push that horizontal part down a little off the knot and the tighten it.  It will have more surface area directly in contact with the front blade and hold it more firmly when you pull it tight.
