Just one comes to mind:  visible belt loops without a belt.  Always looks to me like the guy forgot to finish dressing.  It’s like leaving the fly unzipped.

Your mileage ...

Thanks for the pics, I am always amazed at what a difference 1/8" or 1/4" makes in a tie.

you've got to be kidding. What is this 'belt-no loop-no clip-only buttons-braces' all about? One posts a pic of the belt loops and braces and this becomes the only topic then..

SF will be SF. It's all part of the fun posting here imho, opinions will differ on every little detail in your outfit. FWIW I really liked your post.

This is a terrible hotel room shot taken with Photobooth at a bad angle... but since some of you may be wondering what happened to That Suit that Holdfast used to wear occasionally... here it is! There's a couple of minor tweaks I want to have done to it yet but haven't had the time to and because, frankly no-one apart from me would know... this was worn for the launch party for a report I've been inolved in writing.

Deets: Salvatore Ferragamo glen plaid flannel suit, Dunhill blue shirt with contrast collar and cuffs, Drakes dark green silk knit tie. Not seen: Testoni black austerity brogues. Thought about a PS, decided it looked better without.

Well, there was nothing about the fit, jacket, trousers, shoes, square - only no-belt and braces. I really do not mind reading all the comments - I expect them - which is why I'm posting here. It was the only topic though..

Thank you anyway

I know what this is about for me. As a kid it was the first knot I understood and could tie. My grandfather taught it me in preparation for Secondary school (I was 11). I have a pic somewhere, I'll see if I can scan and post.

Took me a while but realised that, at school, FIH (I wore a DFIH today) was the way. Think late 70's early 80's Punk, 2nd generation Mods etc etc

It sticks with yer. On another threak "The Look" it was said recently if boys wore shorts at school today then when they matured they wouldn't wear the cropped monstrosities you see today.

I suppose by the same logic then I don't do Windsors, doesn't mean it doesn't work smile.gif

It can be frustrating when you post a nice fit and all everybody focuses on is one little issue #SF biggrin.gif

Good story, Cleav.

I will admit that often a Windsor does not look great, even when it's only a half. But if you know how to tie it right, I am of the opinion that it can look excellent.

I love it when people tell me that my 4IH knot is crooked and they come towards me to make it straight and then I am like,"Don't touch me!!!!!"
