SMH. You are all wrong and will eventually see the light. biggrin.gif

One day I'm going to make a very long list of all the sartorial items I despise. Then I'm going to recite the list to lull myself to sleep every night, a la Arya Stark... :cloud:

I also don't hate them. They're harmless enough. I prefer buttoned braces though, it's the only kind of braces I'll ever use myself.

There are very few things I hate when it comes to classic menswear. There are some pet peeves of course, like full windsors et c.

That reminds me, I still haven't watched the latest episode.

I've actually enjoyed just watching here lately. I haven't been posting much at all lately.

AC,

I would love to see a full fit pic if possible or more of the suit. It looks very nice! I like the tie as well, I think I have a SC in a similar pattern.

Maybe not so much but it made me think of it.

I was deeply moved by Claghorn’s courageous public announcement a few days ago that he wasn’t wearing any socks.

So in solidarity, today I'm announcing that I’m not wearing any pants.

Cheers,

Ac

This is the latest look I took photos of. As always all comments are appreciated. Please also note a main text which highlights a couple of things you probably noticed. Thanks

The conversation seems to be centering around the clip braces, but my eye was immediately drawn to the tie, as it seems very wide in the second pic. In the following pics I see that it is not a particularly wide tie at the bottom, but it doesn't taper much, if at all, up to the neck. I think this quality adds a bold but suble touch to the outfit. Any thoughts from the peanut gallery?

Maybe it's time we all list what we hate/loath in menswear and #menswear. @EFV, I can't stand full Windsor too, reminds me of ESPN.

Today's suit; a charcoal pinstripe with a sky blue striped shirt and black chukkas.

Also, could someone tell me how to do the spoiler thing?

Coldsalmon,

please find attached a photo of POW tie by Drake's and the navy with dots Shibumi Tie (wider). There is a slight difference, especially in the 'middle' section between tip and the place where the knot is. I'd say the difference is around 0.25in.

I don't like the stripe in the suit nor do I like the matching stripe on the shirt - on its own it could be fine but not with this suit.

Either the trousers are 'slim fit' or you have massive feet; perhaps a wider leg or perhaps more subtle shoes would be better here.

Your collars could be wider too, to accomodate your large tie knot. The jacket seems sort of 'fashion' if you know what I mean - hard to confirm but it looks like the lapels are very narrow. While that is a "thing" it doesn't pass much muster on SF, at any rate your tie is too wide for those lapels. Either a skinnier tie, or (as I would prefer) a jacket with wider lapels.

Its a smart "GQ" look but there is a lot that could be better about it - I'm not crazy about the tie either.

Oh and to spoiler something you just click on it as you are writing then press the small black square that looks like a speech bubble beside the paper clip, top right.

EFV very kindly provided a post explaining this, including a screen shot of the post editor.  See post #77726 above in this thread.

I hope this helps.

Cheers,

Nail on the head. I used to wear them though I'll admit it. peepwall[1].gif
