Remove the waistcoat, open the top shirt button, and buy some trousers with a wider leg (as those make your legs look like matchsticks), and this would be a pretty decent look. I am impressed by the shoos. :)

Anyone telling you to go to SW&D should, maybe, actually, go look in some of their threads. He's one of us, guys...

No no, I said that before SF I had nothing secondhand - at least I meant to say that! I have about 10 "pre-owned" ties now, most of which I got from Luxeswap. I have no pre owned suits or shirts though; mostly because I can't find any, and also because I often fear shirts will show wear, and suit won't be long enough for me. Also, I just wouldn't wear thrifted shoes, unless they were unworn. I'm a 46 so I probably won't be finding many pairs!

Anyway, me today: Club tie day.

I couldn't settle on a PS today so I just went without one - for as we all know, no PS is better than the wrong PS. I think YRR made a similar observation yesterday.

The monsoon has finally come to NYC. Rubber overshoes (not shown) will be donned prior to departure for the office.

To the gentleman from the metro NYC area, who was curious as to what I wear in the rain, rain gear is included under the spoiler.

Warning: Spoiler! (Click to show)

I don't think you could have gone wrong with a white, straight-fold PS with that fit.

Nice @europrep. Is the shirt white or blue? I think black shoes would work better with the top half.

^light blue.  you inspired me to kop the tie.  love it

Props for experimenting with lower contrast shirt/tie combo. Looks very good

I love low contrast shirt/tie combos. So underrated.

That's what I had, but I took it out as I feared the white clashed with the yellow in the tie. Plus, this is a slightly more 'casual' look, so the white TV fold would've formalised it a bit too much.

You sure you don't want to recommend gray instead of navy while he's swapping trousers and switching out his jacket for a patch pocket navy blazer? Or are you trying to convert him slowly?

I've spent a decent amount of time lurking SWD, and frankly recommendations such as yours are the entire reason I tried to send him there. The aesthetic that he presents here is much more in line with a SWD look than the MC casual that would result from following all of your advice. Ergo, I contend that he would receive better feedback over there than over here. It's not that I'm offended by his presence, rather his look isn't likely to be encouraged here and attempts to have him "conform" are much more likely.

That said, those that are much more my senior here seem to want him to stick around and I assume that there are reasons for that; but at least they are encouraging him in a way that doesn't attempt to entirely destroy his chosen aesthetic.
