HOF: What Are You Wearing Right Now - Part III - Page 5114

I'd be happier if the shirt was something less formal than white, like tattersall. I have no issue with white shirts in non-suit fits, but white is more formal than any other color shirt. And while the fabric of his shirt isn't formal, the color nevertheless is. Given that he's wearing a U vest with matching trousers, I'd think he'd want a bridge of sorts between those and the jacket, hat, and shoes.

Not you, too, Clags. frown.gif

A white shirt is just a shirt. For the longest time, it was basically the only shirt. It's all about the details.

I'm not against white shirts with odd jackets. I'm really not. But white has a far dressier association than tattersall. Surely you don't disagree with me there. And his fit is missing any bridge piece.

in an SWD sense, i like the white shirt there.

A little experiment today: PS made from local hand dyed batik silk. What do you gents think?

If by bridge piece you mean something resembling a belt, I concur. I enjoy the wilder side of sartorial things but it looks a bit like tailored overalls without a proper waist band.

Very much like it. Is that from @piraca? I've been curious about them for a while. Messaged them a few times when they first posted on the board. They broke a few rules, posting links and such, not knowing the SF by laws. I wanted them to stick around rather than be discouraged, as I rather liked some of their stuff, and am always interested in regional manufacturing traditions, so I shot them a quick message explaining things. I don't think they've posted too much unfortunately. At some point, I'm going to pick up something from them.

vest + belt don't mix. Granted, a lot going on there doesn't mix. But the tailored overalls effect is going to exist had that been worn with the matching jacket. I'm not a huge fan of U vests for similar reasons, though obviously disagree that a belt would remedy the look in general.

Thanks. It's not from piraca, I never heard of them. Were they on SF recently?
I made this one myself from a small format ladies' scarf.

Good point, hadn't considered that. I have rarely seen a U vest anywhere before let alone on SF. I found this image a while back and I really like the way it pulls together. No overalls illusion going on here
