This made me laugh out loud in real life. A true lol.

At least swap the pocket square for something somber. smile.gif

I think this is done to death now. You guys disagree with him, but I think he can undimple his tie if he wants to go to church that way. There are many things people can and should pick on here, but I feel like this should be off limits.

And this is coming from someone who is less religious than a pencil.

I think the answer there is to figure it out instead of giving up on it.

Your fits are all good. Your clothes fit well and you are dressed well. It's just very routine looking to me. I'm several decades younger than you are and tend to favor brighter colors in general, but the 'wow' factor of your clothes is almost always in how they fit. No simple feat, mind you, but one that's easy to nod at and scroll past.

I'm looking forward to seeing some of your risks!

Purple paisleys, top coats, links, watchchains-  it's not that Crusty's clothes lack flair IMO. More to  do with the regularity of his  posting, seating position, pic presentation + the subdued lighting

Bow tie season.  Is it too wide for my face?

the bow looks rite to me, nicely balanced.  I have an enormous head - so it makes me very conscious of shoulder width.  May be that u could go a little wider there.

Nice look CS.  The graph check's not optimal but if u want a correct look the angle of your square is the more obvious error.  Angle up towards shoulder to echo the angle of the lapel.

This isn't the best lighting and I need a haircut, a shave and a nap.

I realized that approaching a yellow tie like Claghorn was a mistake, as Claghorn doesn't wear yellow ties. So I asked myself "what would Gianni do?"

(a: better than that)

SF Family:

Vanda (square)

Meermin (shoes)

In my mind this tie is made of solid gold and the paisley is an etched inlay.

Really?  I always think my bowties are too wide.  I think this one should maybe be taller, but not wider.

I like that a lot, but it would look slightly better with a DB suit, as that hides more of the tie. Anyway, just a nit pick.

If I owned a yellow tie, I would have worn it today. I'm thinking something like this:

Looks like a good work week right there to me.  I'll take them all.  Where are these from?

no sorry I was referring to shoulder width in the 2nd part of my comment.  I think the tie width is good

Clag, in terms of pocket squares, I was thinking something like this would work better:

Love the Gianni impersonation. I'd go with a less busy greenish pocket square, but massive thumbs up for getting out of your shell.

Hmm. The background shade is the colour of creme anglaise colour, if that's any help? I'd call it pale yellow, personally, although I suppose an argument could be made for calling it cream? But I feel it's a fraction too yellow to really be called that. Also the rings are yellow; sort of like freshly-made ring doughnuts. (Doughnuts & creme anglaise? Now that's a tasty tie, whatever the colour!)

I'll wear a more canary shade of yellow tie tomorrow, I think, just for funsies.

Very slightly, perhaps... but I do tend to think there's a little more visual leeway with a pointed bowtie rather than a thistle-ended one because of the taper. I like it here, anyway.

I hope this will be entered into the challenge (edit - just noticed you edited into an earlier post)! I actually like the tie a lot. BTW, this ensemble would be perfect for a windowpane suit. Keep everything else exactly the same, but use a windowpane (with a fairly large pane but not so large as the tie's pattern) suit in that colour. A suit pattern would balance the loudness of the tie just enough IMO.

I think that is a symptom of building my wardrobe well. It's very centered around what I know I'd like and I'd wear, so I get a lot of variety within what I like. I didn't...at least not after the first few months...try to shoot off in a bunch of directions. I figured that this was going to be a long haul type of project, so I wanted to branch out very organically. As a result, I have a lot of ties, jackets, shirts, and pants that work with each other in many different combinations. A corollary to this is that I have very few items that aren't "Claghorn" and so when I try to use one, it's sort of left out in the cold.
