HOF: What Are You Wearing Right Now - Part III - Page 510

Last day of the vac scheme...what do people think of the tie I wore? I think I like the colours I'm wearing overall, but not sure that there isn't too much blue.

Alright, if this is inappropriate for this thread just let me know and I'll delete.

Two words. Racing. Season. I went all out and pulled the pocket square to make room for the Dunhill driving gloves.

Individually, all the pieces work with each other. But as a whole, it feels unbalanced to me. The upper half of the outfit seems too dark and heavy compared to the light, airy lower half.

Had you been without the tie and worn the shirt open-collared, I think it'd be improved.

Also, I understand the urge to wear bucks at any possible opportunity. smile.gif

Agreed. That tie is quite dated (90s?).

Looks sharp. Not a fan of the ol' gloves in the breast pocket, but I can overlook it. biggrin.gif

Thanks for the mercy edit, Luftvier!

The tie could well be 90s - came from a second-hand shop like a lot of my things. In any case, it doesn't seem to have many fans.

I agree completely about the collar, Malford. I got the shirt (new) off ebay, and had always assumed that H&K rtw = either a comparatively wide spread or a cutaway. But this one is far pointier than the others I have.

Your combo is great today, really like it!

Thanks, both for the compliment and the clarification re: the cool jacket.

Well the windowpane of the suit reads as silvery-greyish against the dark suit, so the silvery-grey tie seemed appropriate. I think I wore a bolder houndstooth silver tie with it last time I wore this suit. That was a more formal look; today's knit tie knocks the formality back down a bit which seemed a reasonable idea for a Friday.

Inappropriate for the thread? No way. Slightly kitsch? Well, yes, perhaps maybe. Awesome? Definitely!

Re: both EnglishFeller and Pembers's ties: I feel that if you're going to wear dated geometric ties, it's good to embrace the cheesiness with either a retro look, or a busy and bold look. They don't work so well if taken seriously. YMMV, of course.

I like this a lot, TB. I would've personally gone with darker shoes as said above, but only because I think the pink and the white combined clash a bit with the rest of the outfit. Maybe if the shirt was solid and you wore seersucker pants, both would harmonize more.

My initial post was too harsh. But yes, the tie must go; preferably sooner. biggrin.gif

Love the tie. That's two amazing fit days in a row, according to where I am sitting.

Works for me. Like Lufty, not sure about the gloves in breast pocket, but overall look is solid.

I'd prefer it with a solid shirt, probably light blue, and different socks, but I'm not wearing it. You, however, are wearing the hell out of it. Nice.

Even though your head is at the same angle in the pics, it looks more 'attached' to your body in today's pics compared to yesterday.
