Haven't bought a suit in 5 years. Just bought this navy Benjamin from eHaberdasher—love it. I'd change some things, but for the price, it's unbeatable. Exceptional garment.

What's with the loud shirts with ties recently? Is it a new trend in GQ/Esquire?

I was reading the Sartorial Myths Busted thread and came across a few posts from @luftvier. I wonder how he's doing these days.

GQ has been advocating dark, check shirts with suits for years. I think the trend acecow has noticed here is more about loud shirts with loud ties. I.e., general craziness.

I will be dressing like a normal Claghorn for the rest of the week.

Is safe to assume the aforementioned loudness comments were in response to my shirt and tie? Are incongruous patterns a default definition of “loud"? I guess I might have to keep that in mind….or not. What I am trying to accomplish is a look that is not as "conservative" as the deemed successful CBD standards maintained in this thread, but without being...."loud" or otherwise clownish. While I enjoy scrolling this thread, I do find that attempts to deviate from the accepted standards are frowned upon (No surprise there..) thus, I am trying to find my own way. I don't have the body shape, the youth, or work atmosphere to really make an independent statement of fashion like some do, but I am working on it…

BTW - I think my shirt/tie combo today, while not perfect, is one of my new favorites to come out of my closet. icon_gu_b_slayer[1].gif
