'loud tie' doesn't have to mean 'bad tie', just look at some of the wonderful stuff that Gianni is posting. Often, it's about how you balance it with the rest of the fit. Better dressers than me can probably put acceptable fits together with some (though not all!) of Stitchy's 'bad tie' examples. I think many of them look so extremely ugly because they're paired with the wrong stuff.

I feel a 'bad tie' Friday challenge coming wink.gif

I have learned to assume you have the best of intentions, and that your comments are always meant in a friendly way, stitchy.

And, any of us that don't wish our wilder (or Wilde-er) choices criticized, should not post them here. I know there are many of us that only post fits that will be met with general approval, and reserve our other fits. I find that, even if I post something I know will be poorly received, there will be criticisms that help me make it better, to my own standards, as well as those of others.

I took no offense at the inclusion of my ties (though was surprised you felt as strongly about the purple, but no matter). I knew they wouldn't be liked.

ITG, couldn't have said it better myself.

Love the tone on tone blue, and especially the air force blue blazer. The green tie works well, too, especially next to the navy. Very rich, and lush look.

Hmm, I thought the 1st one I posted looked matte. I believe some of SF:s more dandified posters could pull it off. Lets agree to disagree. I'd like to see pB slaughtering Stitchy's list now. I believe my Etro tie wouldn't make his cut.

John Wayne Gacy was just misunderstood I guess.

, that's completely insane, but somehow it works for you! The jacket is beautifully cut and the tie is extraordinary. I would say that the pocket square is perhaps a little too close in colour to the tie (if it's possible to make any comments about colour here...). Is your tie on Viagra BTW?

Thank you very much for your kind post. You to me the color like a lot ... in fact you see:)smile.gif

I'll just post my navy / grey / brown "good" ties. No more gingham or bold check shirts; just plain solids or subtle stripes. So you'll all be happy.

To read this just makes me sad. There are a metric TON of posters who do "loud", "controversial" fits who are loved and respected by many. Gianni, Tira, AAS, etc. The list is literally massive. They do it and they do it well, and it is well received. Rather than learning how to get to their level you guys seem to think that the answer is to shut down because it hasn't been well received.

Let me make it clear. We are NOT against "loud". We are against loud done poorly, frankly in the same way that we are against sedate done poorly. The answer is NOT to stop posting loud stuff, it is to improve your loud stuff.

Haha, it's fine. I definitely agree with you on the green repp-ish tie. It's like CD's green jacket. I just need to figure out a way to use it because I like it in-spite of it's gaudy-ness.

I wish yellow wasn't a SF-unapproved color :/
