it seems at odds with the tie choices to my eye. Wear the dark suit the night before and if you have it something lighter to Sunday church.

I really like the white shirt with purple, though the fake knot, and rumpled shirt obviously makes it look a sloppy.

This one is marginally better lighting. Can't find a good place inside to get a decent photo. The suit is navy, if that's not obvious. Here's another photo of the suit.

Color is pretty accurate here. It's about as fall as navy can go.

Some other ties, and another shirt I forgot about, since I haven't worn it since last year. Not expecting any love fur the silver tie, or the Bill Blass, third from the top :P

there are plenty of good threads you can read if you want to improve your tie collection.

And plenty of good money I can spend. Just not before Sunday.

Second day wearing a cotton jacket.  :fonz:  Missed this life.  Stripes, spots, gingham, and plaid.

This is a pretty good list.

Above all though, I'd say--learn what a well-fitting jacket looks like. That jacket has some serious fit issues, some of which are as you mentioned, due to weight, some of which arent (e.g. length). You can have the greatest combination ever seen, but if it doesn't fit, it will all be for naught.

^^^ You can best do this by trying on jackets. You don't need to buy them until you're ready, but if you go on a Tuesday night, say, when a store isn't busy, you should be able to get some good advice, if you go to a reputable retailer. You can search the board for a discussion About your area, or post a new thread.

It finally broke 70 in Minnesota today, so I celebrated with a combination that's a bit louder than usual for me.  Jacket is a silk/wool mix, trousers are light gray.  Didn't get home in time to take this in daylight, so the color balance is off somewhat.

In isolation, the jacket is nice, but because it is so light, also very tough to wear. It wouldn't be something I'd add to my wardrobe unless I was already 20 deep. Just something to keep in mind for future purchases. That shirt, however, is not meant for ties. Few fancy stripes (multiple widths or colors) are, and certainly not on that large a scale.

The first and last time I'll be wearing this fully bespoke Attolini gray flannel suit (on B&S soon) that landed in my closet recently. 1 piece collar polo and cardigan are Eidos. Hooves are made by some belgians.

i should have qualified my statement, large-in-your-face-bright-colored paisleys and florals get no love here. but the types where the colors are more subdued and and sedate, and are either madder or madder like, can be lovely. i have one in wool i like very much. though admittedly i wear it not so much.

i rarely, RARELY, say this, but 2 of those ties need to die.
