AW: HOF: What Are You Wearing Right Now - Part III
I've asked this question before on a different thread but was wondering what your opinions on this are. @luv2breformed already stated his case so this will be a deja vu of sorts for him.
Do you think there's a high utility of black PTB's in CM or are they sort of stuck in nowheres-ville? I feel like I rarely see them on any fits here.
I think that really comes down to a personal preference. If you like black shoes with SC/odd pants, then they can be worn with about any suit, or SC. Obviously if you prefer brogues with a SC, then they would be less versatile for you. In continental Europe, I understand they are also considered acceptable with Black Tie, White Tie, and Morning Dress, so arguably more versatile over there. In lower end shoes (which I can afford) I often find that bluchers are more comfortable than Oxfords. I have a high bone on top of my foot, right under the laces, so, if the leather is quite stiff, I find I can adjust a blucher better, without leaving as obvious a gap as I would with Oxfords, so I would likely add a pair if I found a good deal on some that fit well.
You will not find a bigger advocate for brown ties on this forum than me, but I don't think brown was the right choice for that outfit. In general, it works better with blue shirts, but since that suit suit probably works better with white shirts, it's the tie that should be changed.
Disagree. Nothing wrong with a knit tie (or even some kinds of casual bow ties) and jeans in the right context, and that was the right context. Any more formal kind of tie and sure, I would agree. Does it belong in this thread though? That's another question - it's very much 'casual style' but I certainly don't mind seeing it here.
I agree that a brown tie is not the best choice here. I think that suit is the star, any time you wear it, so stick to a basic navy tie, with a simple pattern. For some reason I can't picture a solid navy tie working, but I could be wrong. The suit itself is absolutely great. Is the bunching on those pants caused by poster, or are they maybe too long?
