That's an ET Macclesfield? If so, mind saying what  it comes to in US Dollars + ship? I think it's a great deal and Unfortunately, the olive is out...wasn't considering the light blue but rather navy blue...this looks nice. What do you think about the construction and how is the knot?

That's it. I believe if I just ordered the tie with shipping it would have been around $90. Not %100 sure because I got some other stuff. The construction is solid and it ties a great knot. The silk quality is good, but not great. Overall, I'm happy with it and Shaya is great to deal with.

SVB, there are very few here who will be able to appreciate and love that tie. There are very few that will accept the context for this long lived look, regarless of its place in the sartorial history.

I however, am one of them.

I second that. The tie is pretty ridiculous, but I would wear it! I do have a penchant for slightly silly ties at times, which I like to wear to balance out the more 'classic' ties in my collection.

I like the suit too. I haven't liked your other fits so much, maybe it is just the angle or the pose, but this one looks good. Only thing I'm not sure about are the trousers. And / or the boots.

thanks guys. I legitimately like the tie design; supposedly it's vintage YSL but "vintage" could mean "vintage 1990s," for all I know. If anyone can offer any more insight I'd love to hear it, but I think based on it being 3.5" wide and 60" long it is probably recent.

I think clothes should be fun and not taken too seriously so a tie like this (and for that matter, the whole outfit) is my way of expressing that. Also it works for the current SW&D challenge (shades of the Virgin Islands).

Shoes are shoes though, not boots, if that matters at all. I think they may even be too dark to go with this suit but for the fact that they match the tone of the buttons.

I've considered replacing the buttons on this suit with white MOP; any thoughts on if I should do that? The suit was $90 from H&M like 3 years ago, so I've been hesitant to invest in it, but...

First time I'm wearing an outfit that's almost entirely made up of Luxire items (jacket, shirt and trousers):

Looking good.  Go Luxire.  You know they make ties, scarves, pocket squares, and shoes too.  :nodding:

But don't half arse it. Iron your shit and rethink that tie decision...

Feeling warmer today, but I fell back to some fall colors.

Thanks! I wouldn't even mind that, no one offers such a high level of customization for such a low price.

Thanks! The shirt is a chambray that's unfortunately very wrinkly, that's the downside of ordering without seeing swatches first. This picture is less than an hour after I had ironed the shirt. I guess I'll save the shirt for casual wear only.

What kind of tie would you have liked to see with this outfit? I suppose the grey tie/trousers can be a little matchy-matchy, but I don't mind it that much.

jungleroller - that is what I aim for in tie length - or else with the tip just touching the belt buckle. But neither suspended well above nor dangling down below.

I for one wholly approve of that paisley awesomeness. Also, I like what I can see of that suit.

I'm surprised no one has responded.  I'll give it a shot.

I like all the parts individually very much, all the way down to the socks.  Lovely jacket.  Details?

As you know, there are some here who wouldn't like the tie regardless of what it's combined with.  I'm not one of them.

I do find the combination with the shirt to be a tad distracting here.  I think it's the way the diagonal lines in both interact to form a larger pattern, viz:

I'm imagining that if we were having a conversation, this effect would be directing my eye downward, away from your face.

Others might feel exactly opposite, perhaps.  In any event, best to be aware of the effect.  You might already be, and perhaps you like it, in which case cool:  go for it.

Cheers,

Ac

I have been wearing variations of the same fit lately, but I'm like that when I get new clothes I really like. The shoes are new though (and were changed when I stepped outside because of the slush), and so is the bow tie. I met a lady who´s older relative had owned a tie shop for a very long time, when the shop closed down (~20 years ago) he just threw a bunch of bow ties in to a big box and stored it in his attic. Well, the lady I met found the box and decided to sell them. Luckily I got the chance to walk away with 18 great bow ties for a steal.

Anyway, here's today's outfit:

I don't normally do this kind of pedantry, but since the etymology is kind of amusing, I'll break the habit of a lifetime. The idiom is generally "chock full" rather than "chalk full", and IIRC derives from "choke full" as in being gorged with so much food that it's at risk of overflowing back up the gullet and putting you at risk of choking.

I really dig these colours. Beautiful.

I was going to say and ask the same, with the caveat that I think slightly more built up shoulders would be more flattering than the soft one. But in terms of lapel, chest, etc, yes, I really like the look of this cut.

Finally, and this is not a serious entry for this thread (hence the spoiler) but more an opportunity for collective rotten-tomato throwing in revenge for my anal retentiveness re: correcting southernstyle's turn of phrase above, here's the extra-casual outfit I wore today. More crewneck experimentation. It would be OK if the jacket was a size smaller, but as it is, it's purely random casualwear:

I appreciate the chock full idiom explanation, always good to learn new things.
