I do love a three piece, and that's nice. But maybe a bit too much of smooth and shiny going on there? I'd vary the texture a bit more, but you look slick. One more thing: pocket squares, carefully folded to look carefree, remind me of decorative napkin arrangements, especially when white. Straight or scruffy, one or the other I'd say. The suit is worsted wool, the necktie is silk, the shirt and the handkerchief are cotton (the shoes are leather). I believe this is a very common combination of fabrics. In fact, if you substitute the cotton hadkerchief for a linen one, you get the standard uniform of men's dress. However, I have noted that, in most of my photographs, even the worsteds look like mohair. Oh well.

The handkerchief was not folded carefully to look carefree. The fact that it appears studied means that I have failed nonetheless.

Last night, what I wore at rehearsal. I can remember when I barely could fit into a Brooks Bros slim fit shirt. Now, such a shirt looks like I am wearing a tent.

Tie: Brooks Bros
Belt: Ferragamo
Trousers: Epaulet

I'd maybe have gone with a gentler (Bengal?) stripe, or a herringbone twill for texture, seeing as it's against such a strong pinstripe. But I'm nit-picking: pinstripe three piece = my favourite formal suit, like the tie and the PS too. Basically, hell yeah!

Sometimes these different textures don't come across in internet-standard photos - my half-assed photos included, as I've mentioned. "Standard uniform" or not, it's a good look for a reason. And yeah, I thought at a glance that the handkerchief was ironed into a little peaky pattern, which I find a bit pretentious - my mistake, guess it just fell that way!

The watchword for today is "severe". It is grey and periodically wet outside, and I've gone for attire that is severe in the extreme (at least for me) - but perhaps you all will have some other view of it.

Suit - BB GF Regent
Shirt - Lewin
Tie - Charvet
Cufflinks - Tyrwhitt
Shoes - C & J, via Barney's NYC

I can see how you might consider the suit "severe". But I'd just say "smart". The floral/paisley pattern of the tie (very elegant; I'd never have bought such a flowery tie until I saw this), disarms it of any severity. Also, the fact that you're wearing a rather nice pair of monks - more casual than lace-ups, more proper than loafers IMHO - also dilutes the rigidness of a dark charcoal pinstripe/hard white shirt and PS. This look is intensely professional and accomplished, but not at all "Gordon Gecko" aggressive. I think it suits you rather well.

this would be a nice "going out for dinner" type of look. I wouldn't wear it in the daytime or for work, but the rich colours will look nice under low/moody light conditions.

I hate this.

So, I realize there are 1000 things wrong with the jacket fit (I think I've mentioned elsewhere I recently lost a bunch of weight, and I've even had it altered once), I forgot my collar stays, and the tie color is not accurate in the pic (it's more of a blue/grey heather), but some kind soul stopped me in the street to snap the pic, so it can't be all bad . . . .
