Thinking the shirt choice may be wrong here. Thoughts? Any recommendations other than good old light blue?

IMHO  IMHO!!   Yeah--I think the shirt is too casual for the rest of the outfit.  I would keep everything the same and go pastel pink or peach

His striped button-down is too casual for chinos and a tweed jacket?

Because of that tie, I now have to throw my monitor in the trash.

Is it bad that I much prefer my leopard or HF's doreamon tie over this one? Anyway, don't stop wearing it if you like it, but I would've worn something different than a plain red hanky with this. Something a bit lighter to bridge the gap between the dark suit and light shirt and tie.

Well..when you put it like that, I guess I'm a boob...but....there is an element of regalia to that tie and knot...the PS is not casual...yes, tweed but the color seems to make it more formal.  I am not sure if those are chinos, they look like wool; either way that razor sharp crease and the shoes lend themselves to "Tuesday meeting"  not "casual Friday."  Also--the overall palette seems "Autumn/spring" and the shirt seems very "summer."  (Hence the peach/pink for spring suggestions.)  It's not (may I repeat, IMHO) that any one of the particular elements is terribly formal, but the sum of the whole seems to make the shirt feel a bit out of place.

All that being said....I look at the tie and think if it were a maroon woven tie, with a 4 in hand knot, the shirt would seems lees of a non-sequitur.

Any discussion about what may or may not go with this tie is academic at best.

(just FYI its actually a burgundy PS rather than red, I wanted a muted tone as the tie is so attention-grabbing and busy)

I had to get this out of my system as I gear up for the Friday challenge which is sedate by comparison.

I'm not sure what to make of ETB's tie but I do not like the solid red square.

If you're going to wear it, why not try wearing it in the best way? The hanky looked plain red on my screen.

In Vegas for a conference.  Pic before last night's dinner and post-dinner cards.

Note:  I'm not a fan of suit sans tie, but guys who wear ties to craps tables tend to get punched in the face (unless, of course, you refer to yourself as "Bond").
