It's kind of funny that pleats are sometimes frowned upon as they used to go hand in hand with another SF love - cuffs. I for one never wore cuffed pants before joining SF. AFAIK is used to be pleats and cuffs or flat front and no cuffs but somehow cuffs became SF approved whereas pleats suffered a more ominous fate.....

Agree with pingson here. I have seen pleats work on many body types imo, thin and not so thin. I am convinced that if I went bespoke that the tailor would suggest pleats for my thin waisted big hip/butt body type. From what I've read around SF, I am certainly not the only one with such a body type and it surprises me that pleats aren't more popular.

Anyone whose waist is smaller than their hips AND they prefer to wear a higher rise, I think well done pleats will always produce a positive effect.

Unfortunately it seems like in RTW, already baggy pants have pleats simply accentuating the problem, whereas slim pants are flat front. I think slim pants are some of the ones that could benefit most from pleats.

I'm a fan of both flat fronts and pleats. Good thing you don't have to chose. smile.gif

I do believe pleats are very much on their way back in the public's eye though.

+1. I'm toying with the idea of having the cuffs taken off most of my odd trousers.

This

My tailor basically told me to abandon flat fronts

Pleats hide my birthing hips.  I'm fine with single pleats, double pleats are pushing it.  Beyond that I feel like I'm going back to 1992 with Z-Cavaricci pants or something.

Too matchy?  Color is Mo Greene (see second pic) Do you know who I am? Bad Godfather joke

Looks like there may not be enough contrast between your trousers and your jacket.

B&Tailor does these weird pleats that are neither forward facing nor backward facing.

I'd like to see them in the same shot to know for sure, but jacket/pants lack contrast imo. (edit: ninja'd by Clags)

As far as pleats go, 2 is standard, 1 is a bit fashion forward in a good way imo. Anything more is wrong.

Me?

My trousers are med to light grey and the jacket is a dark emerald green.

I think is also has to do with the fact that you pretty much need to wear the trousers at your natural waist for pleats to work. Lower rise trousers with pleats is a recipe for disaster....

for a guy who has wide hips, wears an undershirt and a jewish garment over that, adding to the bulk of the top block, and can not stand wearing pants up high at my "natural" waist, pleats do not work for me.

i can not imagine not cuffing anything but tuxedo pants and super casual casual pants like chinos/moleskins.... i much prefer for myself the look of a cuff.

Yeah my office lighting /phone camera sucks.  At home the sun isn't up yet to use my DSLR.  I can maybe bring my camera/tripod to work.  Nobody will say anything or look at me weird, right?    I know my pics need improving.

Well there's the difference between taking a photo of yourself to show everyone what you are wearing, and making it look like a fashion magazine spread... I think there's a couple of frustrated male models here on SF as their pictures look like something you'd see in a magazine!

Once the clothes are visible and you can see the fabric / colours / fit well enough, then you'll be grand. My pictures aren't best but I don't think I'll get out the tripod just yet (I don't actually have one). I might start doing better shots for the Friday challenge as that's more a fun thing, but for daily "What are you wearing right now" fit shots, your photos are perfectly sufficient.
